Position Title: Student Docent (Work-Study)
Position Description: To be a cand assist with visitor services at the Northwest Arts Center during public hours. The primary duties of a docent at the Northwest Arts Center are to provide welcoming and engaging visitor service, present visitor information and be an active presence in the gallery as a guide and interpreter for the exhibitions and collections on display. Docents shall insure general maintenance of gallery space and maintain a warm, welcoming atmosphere in the NAC. There will be required training sessions at the beginning of each semester and for exhibitions and artwork on display.

Position Details: Flexible hours during NAC public hours and weekends - 5-20 hours per week. Starting wage is $10.00 per hour.

The Northwest Arts Center is a non-profit arts center operating on the campus of Minot State University. The Center houses the Walter Piehl Gallery, a public reception area, and climate-controlled collections storage for Minot State University’s Permanent Art Collection and Native American Collections. Over the years the Center has enriched the artistic life of northwest North Dakota with year-round art exhibitions, a performing arts series, a public lecture series, and numerous workshops and artists-in-residence activities. Programming of the Northwest Arts Center is supported by entry fees from its juried competitions, grants, student activity fees, memberships, and private donations. All exhibits are free and open to the public.
