What are the responsibilities and job description for the Field Supervisor position at MINOT PARK DISTRICT?
GENERAL PURPOSE: Oversee all aspects of sports field operations. This includes but is not limited to planning, staffing, scheduling and grounds/equipment maintenance duties.
PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

- Oversees and coordinates the daily operations of the facilities including facility rental (Rec Trac Scheduling), Staffing and maintenance.
- Ability to work along with Horticulturist to establish goals and objectives for the athletic complexes.
- Assist in formulating annual operating budget; monitor expenditure. Implementation of established fees and practices as approved by the Minot Park District
- Inventory Management
- Assist in Hiring, training, supervisors, and monitors the performance of assigned field staff; ensures staff compliance with departmental policies and procedures.
- Prepares, coordinates, and maintains employee work schedules. Opening and prepping complexes in the absence of other field staff.
- Schedules and coordinates facility use for Corbett Field, Hoeven Field, Optimist Soccer Complex, secondary neighborhood ball field operations and/or Minot Park District programs and non-Minot Park District events.
- Coordinates with Supervisors and Field Staff in planning, organizing and coordinating schedules and assigning work to crews of athletic complexes
- Schedule, coordinate, develop, plan, and supervise all aspects of assigned fields.
- General maintenance and upkeep of facilities including parking lots, locker rooms, shops, stadiums and grounds.
- Plans for general maintenance and yearly projects and implements what is required to complete the work i.e. aerifying, fertilizing. herbicide treatments etc.
- Conducts inspections and ensures proper cleaning, upkeep, and maintenance of facilities, equipment, irrigation systems, sounds system and field lighting.
- Directs, supervises, and participates in building and/or facility maintenance activities.
- Performs daily checks and/or periodic maintenance; troubleshoots and repairs equipment malfunctions.
- Prepares and maintains a variety of departmental records, reports, and documentation.
- Attends and participates in various meetings pertaining to facility operations.
- Recommend and implement changes in programming schedules to meet the needs of the public and facilities.
- Responsible for distribution of facility information to staff and the public
- Serve as a liaison to all user groups of the facilities.
- Performs snow removal to athletic complexes.
- Coordinate with Park District mechanic for required equipment needs. Ensure all equipment is ready when it’s needed.
- General maintenance and painting facilities
- Field supply orders.
- Formulating seasonal schedules
- Communicating with user groups and coaches on schedules and events.
- Assures all facilities are safe, clean and organized
- Assist other Departments as needed.
- Performs other duties as assigned or required.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Education and Experience:
Bachelor’s degree in recreation, leisure services, parks and recreation administration, or relevant field with emphasis in facility maintenance and programming. Four years’ full-time work experience in a related field to the position or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Required Licenses or Certifications or willing/be able to obtain in a timely manner:
- Must possess a valid North Dakota Driver’s License
- ND Pesticide Applicators
- Turf care certificate
- FA/CPR/AED
Required Knowledge of:
- Principles and practices of Athletic field operations and management.
- Standards in synthetic and natural turf field maintenance.
- Sports field maintenance processes.
- Building maintenance principles, practices, and equipment.
- Processes for developing and administering budgets.
- Supervisory principles, practices, and methods.
Required Skill in:
- Directing and overseeing field operations.
- Ensuring proper field maintenance and maximized utilization.
- Coordinating facility usage.
- Supervising and participating in field maintenance functions.

Work Environment
- Work environment is in and around sports field facilities.
- Work involves operating sports field equipment and lifting objects weighing up to 80 pounds.
