Responsibilities
- Supports the lead teacher in supervising the classroom and students maintaining a positive learning environment
- Provides instructional support by working with small groups and individual students under the supervision of the classroom teacher
- Provide assistance to specific student(s) with special needs
- Navigator: Assist in the maintenance of individual student learning plans and scheduling of service learning projects as well as reinforcement of curricular concepts and themes taught within the classroom
- Adapt instruction to meet the needs of the diverse learners
- Manage classroom behavior and maintain a positive learning environment
- Adapt to changing classroom assignments and student support needs throughout the building
- Perform other duties as assigned by the teacher or school administrator
- Experience working with gifted/talented children
- Spanish speaking applicants preferred
- Demonstrated ability to effectively communicate both verbally and through American Sign Language (for ASL)
- Strong classroom management and organizational skills
- Ability to adapt to changing circumstances and priorities
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills as applied to interaction with coworkers, supervisor, the general public
