What are the responsibilities and job description for the Media Relations Game Night Associate position at Minnesota Wild?
The Media Relations Game Night Specialist is a part-time position that provides support for the media relations activities of the Minnesota Wild on game nights. This position can be applied as academic credit towards a major or degree program and is an excellent learning opportunity for current undergraduate students or prospective graduate students, who are seeking a communications role within a professional sports organization. Candidates should be reliable, flexible, passionate and willing to work independently within a team environment.
Responsibilities/Essential Functions
- Manage press box set up and clean up for all Wild home games
- Ensure proper materials such as stats and game notes are produced and available for media in the press box, welcome cards and seating charts, media guides in broadcast booths, etc.
- Assist in the distribution of single-game media credentials at the Xcel Energy Center media entrance.
- Update wild.com/pressbox with game day information.
- Assist with the production of game-day line charts.
- Support in the writing and distribution of press releases including Prospects Report, Wild Week, game notes and Team Guide.
- Help the department track media coverage.
- Work on special assignments or projects as they relate to communications and broadcasting, data management and operational processes.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Position Requirements
Formal Education & Certification
- Current junior or senior year college student pursuing journalism, communication, public relations or related degree or recent college graduate.
Knowledge & Experience
- Proficient computer skills with the ability to use Microsoft Office, Outlook, and Adobe InDesign.
- Knowledge of hockey is preferred but not required.

- Results-oriented with a proven ability to successfully prioritize and manage multiple projects.

Work Conditions
- Must be able to work all home games during the 2024-25 season.
- Physical requirements include sitting, walking, standing, bending, squatting, climbing, kneeling, twisting, lifting, grasping, etc.
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs.
