This position requires an employee to be onsite at 2645 Long Lake Rd, Roseville, Minnesota at least 50% of the time, with some opportunity to perform work from a telework location. Telework for MN Lottery IT Services is available on a limited basis. Employees will be required to meet current telework eligibility requirements.

This position will act as the primary Systems Administrator for the Lottery as it relates to AWS Cloud infrastructure, Software Cloud integration, Microsoft Server administration, Microsoft Active Directory administration, Domaine Name System (DNS) configuration, VMWare Host and Virtual Server administration and provisioning, Nimble SAN Storage administration, Secure File Transfer Protocol (SFTP) Secure Communication Servers, and ServiceNow administration. The AWS Cloud Engineer / Systems Administrator is the subject matter experts for these areas and will work in-conjunction with other technical personnel to achieve the Lottery goals, protect Lottery resources, and provide the highest quality computer service to Lottery's clientele.

Responsibilities include:

  • Design, provision, configure, and maintain AWS services such as EC2, S3, RDS, Lambda, IAM, CloudWatch, and VPC.
  • Implement and manage AWS Identity and Access Management (IAM) policies, roles, and users to ensure secure access to resources.
  • Automate infrastructure provisioning and management using tools like AWS CloudFormation, Terraform, or Ansible.
  • Architect and implement AWS environment to ensure a safe, secure, and robust environment.
  • Mange, troubleshoot and resolve issues related to AWS infrastructure and applications.
  • Plan, develop, operate, and maintain the On Premise/Virtual Server Infrastructure, Microsoft Active Directory, and DNS services for the Minnesota Lottery Headquarters and Regional Offices.
  • Administering and optimizing storage solutions for both physical and virtualized environments.
  • Provide administrations and support for enterprise applications and systems.

Minimum Qualifications

Position requires a minimum of four (4) years of information technology experience in AWS Cloud Infrastructure and Systems Administration:

Candidates will be evaluated on the following experience during the interview:

  • Experience with AWS Infrastructure and On-Premise Servers
  • Experience in automating infrastructure provisioning and management using tools like AWS CloudFormation, Terraform, or Ansible
  • Experience troubleshooting and resolving issues related to AWS Infrastructure and Applications
  • Experience with Microsoft Operating Systems, Windows Server, and Azure
  • Experience in Systems Administration

Ability to communicate effectively with individuals with a wide range of backgrounds, who do not share your same culture, ethnicity, language, or other common experiences.

  • A Master’s degree in Information Technology or a related field substitutes for eighteen months of experience, OR a related Bachelor’s degree substitutes for one year, OR a related Associate’s substitutes for six months.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or related field
  • Currently holding one or more of these industry standard certifications: AWS Certified Cloud Practitioner, AWS Certified Solutions Architect – Associate, AWS Certified Developer – Associate, AWS Certified SysOps Administrator – Associate, Microsoft Certified Azure Administrator Associate (AZ-104), and CompTIA Security
  • Experience and knowledge in these AWS technologies including but not limited to: EC2, S3, RDS, Lambda, IAM, CloudWatch, and VPC
  • Experience with the administration of hardware and software systems including Azure Arc, VMWARE, VCenter, SFTP Servers, ServiceNow, and GoAnywhere
  • Experience configuring and managing hybrid identity using Entra ID, Azure AD Connect and Microsoft Entra ID
  • Experience implementing and managing comprehensive backup and disaster recovery strategies for both on-premises (Active Directory) and cloud resources (Azure, Entra ID).
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills sufficient to develop, communicate and explain complex technical issues to all levels of staff and customers, and are able to adapt instruction techniques to meet the learning styles of a diverse staff

Additional Requirements

The Minnesota State Lottery will conduct a criminal background check and fingerprint check at the time of job offer for all prospective new employees.
