About the Opportunity
Camp Lifeguards are trained people who share their special skills or expertise in their program area with the camp community by planning and leading camp programming at the pool and surrounding area. The MN JCC Camp Lifeguard will be responsible for the supervision and security of the pool area following the policies and procedures of the American Red Cross in maintaining a safe and healthy pool and program. Valid American Red Cross Lifeguard certification is required through August 22nd. The Minnesota JCC will provide training if needed.
Daily Schedule: Monday - Friday, 8 hour daily shifts, earliest arrival 8:00 AM, latest departure: 4:30 PM.
Base Daily Rate : $121 day (based on 8 hour work day). Plus opportunities for additional pay / bonuses.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
- Responsible for being conscious of and protecting the health, safety, and welfare of all campers in any area or programs at camp.
- In addition to regularly scheduled camp days, attends and contributes to pre-camp training sessions, regularly scheduled staff meetings and training sessions once camp is in session. Participates in the open house and any family events.
- Under the supervision of the Aquatics Director, implements Aquatics programming for camp, including specialty camps, village programming, “water days”, as well as periodic after camp and weekend pool activities.
- Responsible for the maintenance of the pools, pool logs, pool equipment, and light maintenance of locker room and deck area.
- Promote safety within your area, enforce appropriate safety regulations and emergency procedures, and apply appropriate behavior management techniques.
- In conjunction with other specialists and senior camp staff, design and implement All Camp weekly and specialty programs based on the weekly themes.
- Other tasks as assigned by the camp leaders.
