The Minnesota Department of Veterans Affairs is looking for an intermittent Primary Care Physician / Medical Specialist 3 to provide primary physician medical care to Veterans residing at the Minnesota Veterans Domiciliary Homes in Minneapolis and Hastings. Veterans residing in the Minnesota Veterans Domiciliary Homes are ambulatory and must be independent in functioning to remain in the facility. Specialty care services are provided through collaboration with the Veterans Affairs Medical Center-Minneapolis (VAMC-Minneapolis). Physicians work as a member of a multi-disciplinary team including Behavioral Therapist, Social Workers and Certified Nurse specialists.
This is an intermittent position. An intermittent employee works an irregular and uncertain schedule as the needs of the agency require. Intermittent employees must be available to work all three shifts and some weekends. The incumbent may work up to two (2) days per week or more depending on business needs. A weekday work schedules is preferred but weekend and/or evening schedule can be arranged.
This is a salaried position and is NOT tied to revenue billing or productivity requirements. State vehicles are available for official travel to and from Minnesota Veteran Home facilities.

Responsibilities includes but are not limited to:
- Provide primary care medical services to MVH residents following all state and federal regulatory requirements.
- Provide medical services through Minnesota Veterans Homes Medical Clinic Group Practice to ensure that medical coverage for the MVH is complete and timely following the CMS, State of Minnesota, and Veterans Affairs regulations for nursing home care.
- Collaborate with the Healthcare Division senior leadership team regarding clinical initiatives that would support and benefit all Minnesota Veterans Homes.
- Travel between state nursing homes as needed.
Minimum Qualifications

- Board certification or eligibility by the American Board of Family Practice or Internal Medicine.
- An active, unrestricted Minnesota licensure as a Medical Doctor.
- The ability to be credentialed at the Federal Veterans Administration at time of hire or within probationary period.
- An active up to date Basic Life Support (BLS) provider qualification.
- One year of geriatric care experience.
