This announcement will be used to fill part-time/every other weekend, Evening shift (2:30pm-11:00pm) Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) vacancies within the Minnesota Veterans Home - Minneapolis.

  • The work schedule will include at least 16 hours per 2-week pay period (work every other weekend) and may include additional work hours, based on business needs. The position is not eligible for employer contribution towards health and dental insurance benefits.

As an LPN for the MVH-Minneapolis, you will provide compassionate, person-centered care for residents in a long-term nursing facility. Assist with activities of daily living, ensure safety and quality of care is provided, and help residents to attain their highest functional capabilities in an environment that promotes caring, respect, and values the individual.

The Minneapolis Home is located on Minnehaha Avenue, which has connecting highways and public transportation options for an easy commute. The beautiful 53-acre wooded campus includes mature oaks and pines, nature trails and biking paths overlooking the Mississippi River.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Licensed in Minnesota as a Practical Nurse with no restrictions, and in good standing.
  • Ability to communicate effectively, follow instructions, and keep clear and accurate notes and documentation.
  • Current Basic Life Support (BLS) or Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) certification through the American Heart Association or the American Red Cross or ability to be certified by date of hire.
  • Computer skills sufficient to complete electronic charting, specifically in PointClickCare.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience in a skilled nursing facility, long term care or other senior healthcare environment.
  • Experience working with Veterans.
  • Effective interpersonal skills in establishing and maintaining positive working relationships.

This position also requires successful completion of the following:

  • Minnesota Department of Human Services (DHS) background check may be conducted on the top finalist(s) for the position(s). When conducted, a finalist must pass the DHS background check.
  • A Tuberculosis (Mantoux) screening (or chest x-ray) is required prior to employment.
