What are the responsibilities and job description for the Health And Safety Officer position at Minnesota Department of Transportation?
In this role, you’ll support the District Safety Administrator by leading and coordinating safety and health efforts across the district. You’ll help make sure employees are trained, safety audits are completed, and incidents are handled properly. This position plays a key role in protecting our people and ensuring a strong safety culture across the district.
Your work will include:
- Planning and promoting safety and security programs
- Making sure we follow all safety laws and regulations
- Investigating workplace accidents and identifying ways to prevent them
- Helping reduce risks and improve employee well-being
- Supporting a safe environment for staff and visitors
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
- One (1) year of professional level experience in the field of occupational health or safety.
- Knowledge of federal and state occupational safety and health rules and regulations, ergonomics, techniques of injury prevention and hazard evaluation.
- Experience developing and conducting safety training.
- Ability to review and evaluate work environments sufficiently identify potential environmental health hazards, evaluating them sufficient to apply corrective measures.
- Bachelor’s degree in Safety, Occupational Safety and Health, Environmental Health and Safety, Emergency or Risk Management, or Industrial Hygiene (or closely related field) substitutes for one (1) year of experience.
