This is a Work Out of Class (WOOC) opportunity anticipated to last up to three (3) months but may be extended up to one (1) year. The successful employee chosen for this WOOC opportunity must receive approval from their current supervisor before accepting this assignment.

This position exists to supervise and manage staff and offenders in the operation of the Laundry. Responsibilities also include the safety and security of staff and offenders, quality assurance, product cost, and delivery.

Job duties include:

  • Providing oversight and supervision to work unit staff and assigned incarcerated individuals performing laundry activities.
  • Achieving monthly and annual production/delivery goals.
  • Providing customer service and technical assistance to customers of laundry services including building customer report, problem solving, and developing pricing and specifications.
  • Providing training and ensuring adherence to safety procedures.

This position works within a Minnesota Correctional Facility (MCF) and works directly with incarcerated individuals.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Knowledge of laundry operations in a prison, hospital, or other large complex or facility.
  • Knowledge of laundry equipment and capabilities.
  • Experience with Microsoft AX enterprise resource planning (ERP) solution software.
  • Knowledge of fiscal management principles and procedures sufficient to develop and/or administer budgets.
  • Knowledge of inventory software programs such as On Base, ERP, or similar manufacturing software.
  • APICS, Six Sigma or Lean certification or training.

Physical Requirements

The completion of pre-placement physical components may be required for this position. These components consist of a tuberculosis screening. Additional Requirements

The selection process may include screening the top candidate(s) on their criminal history, predatory offender registration, offender associations and/or other applicable background information in accordance with Department of Corrections’ policy. Top candidate(s) must pass a criminal history check which includes successful completion of all sentencing and/or restitution requirements of law enforcement jurisdictions, including probation.

Employment history/reference checks, including incidents of sexual harassment, will also be conducted on the top candidate(s) in accordance with Department of Corrections’ policy. This may include a review of job performance and discipline records.

New employees will be fingerprinted within the first 30 days of employment.
