This position provides installation and maintenance to electrical-electronic related apparatuses, buildings, machinery, and commercial kitchen equipment at the Minnesota Correctional Facility (MCF) – Moose Lake. Primary responsibilities include:

  • Provide maintenance, installation and Supervision while supervising an Incarcerated Person (IP) work crew on repairs to all commercial kitchen equipment, electrical distribution panels, and related electrical equipment.
  • Provide service, maintenance, training, and installations with an IP work crew to the facility Fire alarm systems
  • Provides training and documentation for assigned IP work crew on proper safety practices and installation procedures of repairs, preventive maintenance repairs and projects.
  • Maintain security of all tools, equipment and supplies so that the security of the facility is not compromised.

This position has direct contact with incarcerated individuals.

Minimum Qualifications

To be qualified for and considered for this position, applicants must meet all of the minimum qualifications listed below. You must be registered with the Department of Labor and Industry as a Class A Journey or Master Electrician

AND you must have either A or B below:

  • Vocational/technical degree in Electronics (Note: The degree program must include the following courses: Electronic Control Theory and Electronic Control Applications) OR
  • Electronics experience with primary responsibility for the installation, operation, programming and maintenance of commercial security, environmental and fire alarm control systems.

Preferred Qualifications

The following qualifications are strongly desired of applicants seeking consideration for this position:

  • Electronics experience with primary responsibility for the installation, operation, programming and maintenance of commercial security, environmental and fire alarm control systems.
  • Experience working in a correctional or secured environment.

Physical Requirements

The completion of pre-placement physical components may be required prior to hire for this position. These components consist of a physical examination, a drug test and/or tuberculosis screening. Additional Requirements

The selection process may include screening the top candidate(s) on their criminal history, predatory offender registration, offender associations and/or other applicable background information in accordance with Department of Corrections’ policy.

Employment history/reference checks, including incidents of sexual harassment, will also be conducted on the top candidate(s) in accordance with Department of Corrections’ policy. This may include a review of job performance and discipline records.

New employees will be fingerprinted within the first 30 days of employment.
