What are the responsibilities and job description for the Radiation Therapist position at Minneapolis Radiation Oncology?
Minneapolis Radiation Oncology has an opening for a 0.5 FTE Radiation Therapist at our busy Fairview Ridges RTC in Burnsville, Minnesota. This position will typically work from 1:00pm to 5:00pm Monday through Friday but some flexibility is required to fill in for full days or to stay later when patient volumes increase. The MRO Ridges location is a busy clinic with 4 Therapists operating a Varian TrueBeam machine with Aria for their EMR and a GE CT Sim.
DUTIES:
• Deliver or ensure the delivery of the prescribed planned course of radiation therapy.
• Observe patient for reactions and events, reports same to nursing staff and/or physician.
• Assists with emergency procedures as required.
• Actively participate in patient education.
• Observe radiation safety measures for patients and personnel.
• Maintain supplies for assigned areas as needed.
• Participate in quality control checks of equipment, including machine warm-up, and report
erratic operation to Lead Tech or Radiation Physicist when malfunctions occur.
• Maintain patient records and charts and perform weekly chart checks.
• Collect dosimetry information for computer planning. Use best efforts to ensure accurate
documentation of treatment delivered and consistent directions and treatment information for future reference.
• Cooperate with all personnel in proper conduct of department. Help maintain professional
standards of technical staff.
• Actively participate in development of new techniques.
• Perform accurate, well-planned simulations.
