The Job
This position implements data analytics and reporting as well as institution-wide data collection and stewardship practices to support business functions and priorities. The Data Analyst communicates with multiple internal stakeholders across various functions of the organization, with a focus on using data to inform better decision-making. This person assures that insights are accurate, timely, and communicated effectively while databases and platforms are efficient, effective, and integrated.
In this role, you will…
1. Reporting and Data Visualization
- Prepare reports and communications that share data findings and insights to a variety of audiences and stakeholders, including data visualization components.
- Create and develop data dashboards and other visual aids to enhance communications and support better decision-making.
- Disseminate data to internal and external stakeholders.
- Oversee general attendance methodology, technology implementation, and internal/external reporting.
- Partner with internal stakeholders (audience, visitor experience, finance, etc.) to determine projections for general attendance, special exhibitions, and any other requests.
- Monitor attendance actuals and related information for reporting and planning purposes.
2. Data Collection and Analysis
- Collect, analyze, and interpret data to support organizational needs.
- Define metrics and methodologies for institution-wide reporting and analyze datasets for accuracy and relevance.
- Use statistical tools and techniques to analyze data, identify patterns, and offer business insights.
- Partner with key internal stakeholders to perform evaluation projects and/or provide audience-related insights, including planning, implementation, training, analysis, and reporting.
- Participate in data systems-related consulting relationships and any resulting projects or engagements.
3. Data Governance and Management
- Partner with IS and other key department staff to determine data standards and governance as well as set institutional data privacy and ethics practices.
- In collaboration with the CFO, define metrics and methodologies for institution-wide reporting.
- Ensure data integrity, investigate any issues, and provide necessary updates or expertise to resolve them.
- Maintain database management including updating data sources and systems, database queries, and datasets for continued accurate reporting.
- Partner with stakeholders to determine standards around data collection, privacy, ethics, and storage; lead maintenance of standards.
- Project Management – oversee projects, set timelines, monitor progress for tasks and deliverables.
- Keep apprised of trend developments in the museum field and other industries; stay current with general museum news nationally and internationally.
- Participate in institutional and divisional planning meetings as needed.

Requirements
Required:
- You must be authorized to work in the United States, we do not sponsor visas
- Bachelor's degree in Data Engineering, Data Analytics, Business Analytics, Data Science, or other related field or equivalent related experience.
- Minimum of three years related experience that includes data and analytical components
- Proficiency in data visualization tools and techniques, such as Tableau
- Strong analytical skills with the ability to logic-check and see patterns and stories in information and data
- Experience with business intelligence and analytic platforms
- Experience acquiring and preparing data from multiple systems
- Excellent computer skills specifically in MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint), Tableau, SQL, and Google; Salesforce experience a plus
