The Job
As a member of Mia Security program you will assist the Head of Security in the management of the department including but not limited to supervisory duties, weekend management, events support, and to serve as back-up to the scheduling and security payroll process for the Security department. This role is pivotal in safeguarding our people, assets, and cultural treasures.
In this role, you will…
1. Daily Operational Duties
- Coordinate scheduling security officers with the Associate Director for events.
- Act as the primary point of contact for security concerns, liaising with clients and event stakeholders to ensure all their needs are met during events and weekend operations.
- Regularly meets with the Head of Events and/or event staff.
- Create reports on museum activities to evaluate regular security operations and in response to investigative activities.
- Facilitate the Security staff morning meeting on weekends.
- Assist and/or train the Security frontline staff.
- Coordinate responses to emergencies and alarms.
- Conduct security inspections and identify potential risks.
- Coordinate security operations during special events.
2. Supervisory Duties
- Perform supervisory duties relating to security personnel as assigned by the Head of Security. This includes but is not limited to initial investigations of incidents/accidents or personnel situations.
- Evaluate, interview, and hire candidates for permanent and temporary positions.
3. Relationship Management
- Develop, maintain, and promote positive and professional relationships with internal staff, volunteers, members, vendors, contractors, and the general public in order to achieve departmental and organizational goals.
4. Perform other related duties and responsibilities as required or assigned.
Requirements:
Required:
- High school diploma or equivalent
- General knowledge of security operations and equipment
- Good interpersonal communication and organizational skills are essential
- Must be trustworthy and dependable in dealing with the public, event staff, and personnel information
- Must be willing to come in for emergency situations and to be in responsible charge in the absence of other security management
- Able to work effectively under pressure
- Able to maintain a consistent and predictable work schedule.
- Able to work independently with little or no supervision
- Able to walk and stand for extended periods of time
- Requires the physical flexibility to sit, climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl
- Able to maintain confidentiality, use discretion, and operate under ethical conduct
- Able to remain calm under pressure and handle stressful situations
- Strong problem-solving and decision-making abilities
Preferred:
- College degree in a relevant field
- CIPM Certification
- Previous supervisory experience strongly preferred
- Proficiency with computerized building systems and security software programs
