SUMMARY:
MCAD is seeking a Social Media Specialist. This position is responsible for planning, executing, and monitoring the social media efforts across the college’s various channels. The position will generate visually appealing and compelling content and confidently manage MCAD’s social media channels. The Social Media Specialist must be sensitive to college needs, employee and student goodwill, and overall brand equity of MCAD as an employer and educational institution.
DETAILS: This is a full time, non-exempt position expected to work 35 hours a week with occasional weekends and evenings. This position reports to the Digital Marketing Supervisor and is paid $21.00-23.00 per hour.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Creates new posts and/or find appropriate existing content to repost for social media.
- Develops and maintains a social media calendar while collaborating with the
- Communications and Marketing Strategy (CMS) team on the distribution and prioritization of MCAD stories and news.
- Creates paid social media campaigns and audiences and reports on their efficacy to partners.
- Attends various events on and off campus (occasionally on nights and weekends) to photograph for social media, mcad.edu, and other marketing materials.
- Coordinates with MCAD departments, faculty, staff, students, and alumni to gather social media content and assets.
- Creates short videos about college-related activities and events and/or edit preexisting MCAD footage into new videos.
- Manages social media activity daily and alerts the Director of Digital Marketing to any issues or comments that require response.
- Performs regular social media audits and keeps track of metrics/analytics for social media channels.
- Assists departments with other MCAD-related social media accounts; helps monitor content and measure results.
- Stays up to date with social media trends, best practices, and popular platforms.
- Completes other tasks as assigned by the supervisor.
- Represents MCAD’s vision, purpose, and values in day to day work and interactions with MCAD students, staff, faculty, and campus guests, as well as the greater community
Requirements
EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE
- Bachelor’s degree with a major in marketing, communications, public relations, journalism, or a related field preferred.
- Proven track record of social media proficiency; knowledge of Instagram, Facebook, LinkedIn, YouTube, TikTok, etc.
- Exceptional written communication skills.
- Fluency with Adobe Creative Suite
- Demonstrated aptitude for social media photography; familiarity with basic videography and editing.
- Experience working with social media managing tools (Buffer preferred).
- Strong problem solving skills and technical aptitude.
- Demonstrated ability to facilitate communication and collaborate across departments.
ENVIRONMENT:
This position operates in a professional office environment. This position requires the ability and willingness to closely partner with team members and colleagues in other departments. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as cameras, computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk or hear. The employee frequently is required to stand; walk; use hands to finger, handle or feel; and reach with hands and arms. This position will also be required to work occasional evenings and weekends for events, which could be crowded.
