Part-Time After School Educator

Mini Maker Academy teaches financial literacy, investing, and entrepreneurship to K-8

students through immersive simulations, role-playing games, and real-world

challenges. Our programs help students build practical money skills while developing

confidence, creativity, and critical thinking. Classes are highly interactive, discussion-

based, and designed to make learning financial concepts accessible and fun.

About the Role

We are seeking engaging, reliable instructors to lead weekly enrichment classes in schools, homeschoolpods, and other community settings throughout the Bay Area.

Classes are typically one hour long and typically take place after school, with opportunities to teach multiple classes per week. Curriculum, lesson plans, materials, and training are provided.

This role is ideal for educators, graduate students, tutors, coaches, camp counselors, or professionals who enjoy working with children and facilitating interactive learning experiences.

Responsibilities

• Lead engaging financial literacy, investing, and entrepreneurship classes for K-8 students
• Facilitate discussions, simulations, games, and hands-on activities
• Create a positive, inclusive, and supportive classroom environment
• Manage classroom dynamics with confidence, warmth, and professionalism
• Encourage student participation, collaboration, and critical thinking
• Communicate effectively with site coordinators, school staff, and Mini Maker Academy leadership
• Set up and organize classroom materials before and after class (light prep)

Qualifications

• Experience working with children (teaching, tutoring, coaching, camp counseling, youth programs, or similar)
• Strong communication and classroom management skills
• Enthusiasm for hands-on, discussion-based learning
• Reliable, organized, and able to commit to a regular teaching schedule
• Ability to facilitate conversations and keep students engaged
• Interest in education, entrepreneurship, investing, business, or personal finance is a plus, but expertise is not required

Schedule & Compensation

• $50–$70/hour, based on experience
• Paid training and onboarding
• Curriculum and materials provided
• Typical teaching hours are weekdays between 3–6 PM (homeschool pods may deviate from these hours)
• Opportunities to teach multiple classes and programs
• Locations currently include the Peninsula and South Bay
