Director of US Philanthropy

Mines Advisory Group (MAG) US
Washington, DC Full Time
POSTED ON 11/18/2025
AVAILABLE BEFORE 5/16/2026

Lead Philanthropy that Saves Lives. Shape a Movement that Builds Futures.

Every day, MAG teams walk into the places the world has left behind - fields, villages, pathways, schools - to clear landmines, unexploded ordnance, and the hidden remnants of war. Their work allows children to walk safely, farmers to harvest again, and communities to rebuild in peace.

This is urgent life-changing work.

Right now, MAG stands at an extraordinary moment of global recognition and opportunity: a Nobel Peace Prize laureate and the 2025 Conrad N. Hilton Humanitarian Prize winner with growing U.S. visibility, expanding partnerships, and an energized donor community.

MAG US is poised for major philanthropic growth and is seeking a leader who can help build continuing investment in this mission.

The Role: A Builder, Strategist, Partner, and Champion

The Director of US Philanthropy will be the engine behind MAG US’s growth in private philanthropy. You will work with new tools, new messaging, a promising prospect pipeline, and an international reputation for excellence. At the same time, you will have an opportunity to build; creating systems, sharpening narratives, strengthening relationships, and driving results through a mix of vision, discipline, and hands-on engagement.

This role is ideal for someone who thrives in a “small but mighty” environment: a leader who can think big, execute cleanly, and roll up their sleeves with equal enthusiasm. In this role, you will have the opportunity to:

Lead With Vision

  • Design and own a national fundraising strategy that meaningfully expands MAG US’s philanthropic revenue within 3–5 years
  • Shape how MAG US positions itself in the philanthropic marketplace, elevating visibility among high-net-worth individuals, foundations, and corporate partners
  • Translate MAG’s global mission, impact, and priorities into compelling, emotionally resonant donor-facing messages that inspire investment

Grow a High-Value Major Gifts & Foundation Portfolio

  • Serve as the primary relationship manager for a portfolio of major donors capable of six- and seven-figure gifts
  • Proactively identify new prospects including family foundations, philanthropic advisors, global development investors, and move them through a thoughtful, strategic cultivation journey
  • Develop custom pitches, immersive donor experiences, and storytelling materials that spark investment and deepen loyalty

Build Strategic Corporate Partnerships

  • Identify and cultivate corporate partners aligned with humanitarian impact, ESG, and responsible business goals
  • Create co-branded initiatives, sponsorships, and shared-value programs that elevate MAG’s mission and deliver meaningful corporate engagement opportunities
  • Represent MAG US as a trustworthy, expert partner at conferences, corporate gatherings, and philanthropic forums

Roll Up Your Sleeves & Help Build the Future

  • Build smart fundraising systems and processes that position MAG US for long-term growth
  • Elevate the donor experience through better segmentation, moves management, and stewardship frameworks
  • Work closely with a small team, often wearing multiple hats and testing new approaches with agility
  • Bring creativity, hustle, and adaptability in a growing environment where your fingerprints will be everywhere

Collaborate Across a Global Organization

  • Partner with MAG’s global leadership, technical experts, and country teams to align fundraising priorities with field needs
  • Serve as an ambassador across the organization, ensuring U.S. donors feel connected to the real stories and real people behind MAG’s work

Who Will Thrive Here

This role is for someone who is energized by possibility and motivated by purpose.

Someone who loves the work of building, whether that’s through creating strategy, shaping culture, implementing systems, or directly engaging donors at the highest levels. You bring:

  • 10 years of senior fundraising experience
  • A proven record of five- and six-figure gifts
  • Knowledge of U.S. philanthropy and donor networks
  • Exceptional storytelling, relationship-building, and influence skills
  • Comfort working independently, collaboratively, and with global colleagues
  • The ability to make donors feel valued, inspired, and deeply connected to the mission
  • A commitment to humility, listening, and partnership

What We Offer: Compensation & Work Environment

  • Washington, D.C. hybrid model (2 days/week in office)
  • Competitive salary and benefits in a supportive and flexible environment
  • Domestic and international travel opportunities
  • A highly respected global brand with a deeply mission-aligned culture
