About Student Life

The Student Life team oversees the growth and development of students outside the classroom. Student Life staff members work within and across teams focused on residential life and Minerva community development, civic engagement and city/cultural immersion, mental health and wellbeing, and professional development of students to prepare them for post-graduation employment or graduate and professional school. These teams are unified by a shared goal of providing and/or supporting opportunities for integrated learning for our diverse and global student community.

THE ROLE

We are seeking an experienced and passionate Student Life Coordinator to join our team for a full-time role. The successful candidate will be responsible for supporting the functions of the Student Life team, with a focus on fostering student growth and development through experiential learning, developing strong partnerships, and contributing to the San Francisco Student Life team’s work in fostering a healthy and inclusive student community. This role requires project management skills, creativity, problem solving skills, and a commitment to delivering high-quality experiences.

Responsibilities

Reporting to the City Director (CD), the Student Life Coordinator will oversee and be responsible for:

COMMUNITY & EXPERIENTIAL INITIATIVES

  • Overseeing the Weekly Minerva Talk program wherein students and external participants are highlighted in Ted Style talks, with a potential expansion of the program into a monthly speaker series
  • Facilitation of Staff-led City Experiences in conjunction with the Experiential Education Manager (EEM).
  • Ownership of the Milestone Event of Friendsgiving, with support from the City Team
  • Supporting the development and execution of additional Milestone Events, such as Foundation Week, Elevation, Quinquatria, and Continuum.
  • Supporting the local Student Initiatives (SI) community in developing chapters and activities in San Francisco
  • Managing the Pulse mid-semester survey and focus group

STUDENT LIFE TEAM & ADMINISTRATIVE DUTIES

  • Hold the emergency phone on a staff-weighted basis throughout the year, generally around once per month on a weekend, from Thursday (evening) - Monday (morning), during which the on-duty staff must remain in the Bay Area to respond to emergencies as they arise. All emergency response staff will receive training to understand the building and resources to effectively respond to student emergencies.
  • Assisting with residential life activities and events, including student move-out responsibilities, key card making, and roster maintenance.
  • Be visible to students during the Monday to Friday work week, with demonstrable active contributions during the entire semester, including the requirement for some weekend or evening work
  • Host weekly office hours, as well as 1-on-1 meetings with students as needed
  • Maintain and track assigned budget on an ongoing basis, with reconciliation taking place on a monthly basis.
  • Being present for staff weekly planning meetings.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Requirements:

THE IDEAL CANDIDATE WILL POSSESS…

  • Bachelor’s Degree in related area
  • Experience in the following areas: experiential and programmatic design, community building and conduct philosophies, and data organization.
  • Experience working with a diverse group of individuals around the world, able to empathize and connect with people from diverse backgrounds
  • Excellent communication skills (written and verbal) and an understanding of the primacy of effective communication in this role; conflict resolution; rapid problem-solving; deep awareness of intercultural dynamics; team building and collaboration; adaptability and flexibility
  • Emergency response and health and safety protocol design and daily administration; operations and logistics;

Hiring Salary: $70,000 - $75,000 annual

Role is eligible to receive housing in the Minerva Residence Hall at the Student Discount rate, which would accompany additional residence hall related tasks

This role is a full-time appointment from July 1, 2026 - June 30, 2027 with an expected 40-hour of work each week, with potential for renewal. The role is a Hybrid role requiring at least three days working on-site. Candidates must be eligible to work in the United States; no visa sponsorship is possible.
