Job Overview
COUNTY COORDINATOR
THE COUNTY COORDINATOR WORKS DIRECTLY WITH THE COUNTY COMMISSION TO MANAGE DAY-TO-DAY ADMINISTRATIVE OPERATIONS, IMPLEMENT COMMISSION POLICIES, AND SERVE AS A LIAISON BETWEEN COUNTY DEPARTMENTS, STATE AGENCIES, COMMUNITY ORGANIZATIONS, AND THE PUBLIC.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
BOARD SUPPORT & ADMINISTRATION
- COORDINATE AND SUBMIT MEETING AGENDA ITEMS TO THE COUNTY CLERK.
- ENSURE COMPLIANCE WITH APPLICABLE OPEN MEETINGS LAWS AND OTHER LEGAL REQUIREMENTS.
- ASSIST WITH MEETING PREPARATION, DOCUMENTATION, AND FOLLOW-UP ACTIVITIES.
BUDGET & OPERATIONS
- ASSIST WITH THE COUNTY BUDGET DEVELOPMENT AND ADMINISTRATION PROCESS.
- RESEARCH PENDING ISSUES AND PROVIDE RECOMMENDATIONS TO THE COMMISSION.
- COORDINATE AND OVERSEE SPECIAL PROJECTS AND OPERATIONAL INITIATIVES.
HUMAN RESOURCES & PERSONNEL
- CONDUCT EMPLOYEE INVESTIGATIONS AND ASSIST WITH PERSONNEL MATTERS.
- COLLECT CANDIDATE INFORMATION AND COORDINATE BACKGROUND CHECKS DURING THE HIRING PROCESS.
- SUPPORT EMPLOYEE RELATIONS AND POLICY COMPLIANCE EFFORTS.
PUBLIC COMMUNICATION
- SERVE AS THE COUNTY'S PUBLIC INFORMATION OFFICER (PIO).
- RESPOND TO MEDIA INQUIRIES AND PUBLIC INFORMATION REQUESTS.
- MAINTAIN AND UPDATE COUNTY WEBSITES AND OTHER COMMUNICATION PLATFORMS.
- ADDRESS CITIZEN CONCERNS AND COMPLAINTS IN A PROFESSIONAL MANNER.
- RESEARCH, WRITE, SUBMIT, AND MANAGE STATE AND FEDERAL GRANT APPLICATIONS FROM START TO FINISH.
- DRAFT POLICIES, RESOLUTIONS, MEMORANDA OF UNDERSTANDING (MOUS), AND ORDINANCES FOR COMMISSION REVIEW AND CONSIDERATION.
PROCUREMENT & CONTRACT ADMINISTRATION
- MANAGE COUNTY CONTRACTS AND AGREEMENTS.
- COORDINATE PROCUREMENT ACTIVITIES AND BID PROJECTS IN ACCORDANCE WITH STATE CODE AND PURCHASING REQUIREMENTS.
COMMUNITY RELATIONS
- COLLABORATE WITH COMMUNITY ORGANIZATIONS, LOCAL AGENCIES TO IMPLEMENT PROGRAMS AND EFFECTIVELY ALLOCATE RESOURCES.
- FOSTER PARTNERSHIPS THAT SUPPORT COUNTY INITIATIVES AND COMMUNITY DEVELOPMENT.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
- BACHELOR'S DEGREE IN PUBLIC ADMINISTRATION, BUSINESS ADMINISTRATION, OR A RELATED FIELD.
MINIMUM OF THREE (3) YEARS OF MANAGEMENT OR SUPERVISORY EXPERIENCE.
- EXPERIENCE IN LOCAL GOVERNMENT OPERATIONS, HUMAN RESOURCES, PURCHASING, BUDGETING, AND FINANCE.
- PROJECT MANAGEMENT EXPERIENCE IS A PLUS.
- EXPERIENCE OVERSEEING BUILDING OR FACILITY RENOVATION/REMODELING PROJECTS IS BENEFICIAL.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES
- STRONG LEADERSHIP, ORGANIZATIONAL, AND COMMUNICATION SKILLS.
- ABILITY TO MANAGE MULTIPLE PROJECTS AND PRIORITIES SIMULTANEOUSLY.
- KNOWLEDGE OF LOCAL GOVERNMENT FUNCTIONS, POLICIES, AND PROCEDURES.
- STRONG PROBLEM-SOLVING, ANALYTICAL, AND DECISION-MAKING ABILITIES.
- ABILITY TO BUILD POSITIVE WORKING RELATIONSHIPS WITH ELECTED OFFICIALS, STAFF, PARTNER AGENCIES, AND THE PUBLIC.
