Duties
- Conduct thorough patient assessments, including diagnostic evaluations and intake interviews, to determine individual treatment needs.
- Develop and implement tailored treatment plans incorporating behavioral therapy, motivational interviewing, cognitive-behavioral therapy (CBT), and applied behavior analysis techniques.
- Facilitate individual and group counseling sessions focused on addiction recovery, mental health support, and behavioral management strategies.
- Utilize crisis intervention skills to manage acute situations effectively, ensuring patient safety and stabilization.
- Maintain accurate medical documentation, including progress notes, treatment plans, and HIPAA-compliant records in electronic medical records systems.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s or master’s degree in social work, psychology, counseling, or a related field; licensure or certification as an addiction counselor preferred.
- Proven experience in addiction counseling, mental health therapy, or behavioral health settings—hospital experience is a plus.
- Strong knowledge of psychotherapy modalities such as motivational interviewing, cognitive-behavioral therapy (CBT), behavioral therapy, and crisis management techniques.
- Excellent patient assessment skills combined with case management capabilities for individualized treatment planning.
- Ability to handle crisis situations calmly and effectively while managing multiple priorities in fast-paced environments.
