QA/QC Technician

Job Purpose

To support software development teams by reviewing and verifying new code as well as changes to existing applications. Working with other QA personnel to ensure that software development activities are fully documented and recorded.

Main Duties and Responsibilities

• Collaborate with Cross-Functional Teams: Work closely with neuroscientists, Director of Product Development, Regulatory, data analysts, and developers to understand requirements and help deliver high-quality solutions.
• Automate: Build and maintain automated tests (Python/pytest). Integrate into CI/CD (GitHub Actions or similar) with artifacts and XML exports.
Data & Algorithm QA: Validate imaging pipelines outputs against gold‑standard references; verify ROI maps, transformations (MNI
• subject), and statistical summaries (TIV/ICV scaling).
• Image & Metadata Validation: Verify DICOM tags, NIfTI headers, identify site/scanner idiosyncrasies and propose normalization rules.
• Support: Support the Director of Research and Development in development and research projects in a QC role as needed.
• Ensure that software products are performing to specification and ready for launch.
• Toolsmithing: Build small utilities (Python/Bash) to synthesize test datasets, fuzz headers/metadata, and validate schema.
• Defect Triage: Log and reproduce defects and usability issues, write minimal failing cases, severity/priority assignment, drive fixes with engineers; verify and prevent regressions.
• Assess the user experience through user acceptance testing (UAT)
• Develop and execute the entire testing strategy to ensure that both quality requirements and
  deadlines are met.

Essential:

• Bachelor's of Science degree in computer science and/or information systems required. Advanced degree(s) strongly preferred in aforementioned fields.
• Two to three years of directly related professional experience required, including (but not limited to)software development for medical imaging applications.
• Advanced knowledge of software development life cycles.
• Experience in Python, Matlab and Unix architectures.
• Understanding of diverse computer systems and networks and good knowledge of Internet security and data privacy principles.
• Proven ability to succeed in a team-oriented environment under dynamic conditions.
• A self-starter able to work independently and in a team environment.
• Experience with CI/CD & Env: GitHub Actions, Docker/Singularity, makefiles, conda/uv; artifact retention and test reports.
• Experience with virtualized systems and containers (VMWare, Docker, Singularity, Kubernetes)

Desirable:

• Experience and proficiency in neuroimaging processing and analysis programs (e.g. FSL, SPM, FSL, AFNI, MRTrix3) and data formats (nifti, dicoms, nrrd)
• Experience and proficiency in machine learning libraries (scikit-learn, tensorflow, pytorch).
• Knowledge and application of structured database systems (SQL, MongoDB).
• Experience with waterfall and/or Agile methodologies and related project management tools.
• Experience with imaging data tools, e.g.: pydicom, nibabel, dcm2niix, BIDS Validator; reference
  datasets and synthetic generators.
