Title: SAP ABAP Developer
Duration: 6 Months (possible extension)
Location: Greensboro, NC
Onsite/Remote – (4 Days Onsite – 1 Day Remote)
Role Responsibilities:
- Deliver technically complex SAP solutions and perform system integration support for all project work.
- Consult and partner with business product owners to understand goals and offer solutions during design.
- Develop customized coding, software integration, analysis, and configuration using SAP development tools (ABAP, SAPScript, iDocs, BAPI, RFC).
- Lead and participate in development, testing, implementation, maintenance, and support of highly complex solutions, including robust unit testing and support for release testing.
- Build non-functional monitoring capabilities and provide escalated support for complex applications in production.
- Build and maintain security controls and monitoring in support of company standards.
- Lead moderately complex projects and participate in larger initiatives; may oversee a small team.
- Solve complex technical and operational problems; act as a resource for less experienced teammates.
- In Agile environments: deliver high-quality working software, automate manual/reusable tasks, engage with business from design, refine user stories, develop and maintain automated unit. testing, support integration and functional testing, provide automated monitoring, warranty support, and knowledge transfer to production support.
Must Have Skills/Prior Experiences:
- Bachelor’s Degree and 4–7 years of experience or equivalent education and software engineering training/experience.
- Minimum 3–5 years as an application programmer in ABAP.
- In-depth knowledge of information systems and IT best practices.
- Hands-on experience in SAP PI, including monitoring interfaces, error handling, and working with adapters.
- Hands-on development and implementation of RICEFW objects in SAP environments (Reports, Interfaces, Enhancements, Workflows, OOP in ABAP).
- Experience with integration technologies: RFC, Restful API, ABAP Proxy, OData, Webservice, IDOC.
- Proficiency in Workflow configuration and Object Oriented Programming (OOP) within ABAP.
- Ability to deliver high-quality solutions, support integration and functional testing, automate manual/reusable tasks.
- Ability to plan/manage projects, solve complex problems, mentor less experienced teammates, and interpret/convey complex information.
Plus/Nice to Have Sklls/Prior Experiences:
- College degree in Computer Science, Math, or related field.
- Bachelor’s degree in computer science/engineering and 8 years of experience or equivalent.
- Banking or financial services experience.
- Knowledge of data structures, algorithms, software design, strong analytical/debugging skills.
- Extensive knowledge in ABAP programming, SAP data dictionary, file structures, SAP EDI, ALE, customizing iDocs, BAPI’s, RFC calls.
- Experience with SAP modules: MM, PO, FI/CO, AP, Banking.
- Experience building high-quality apps/services from the ground up and scaling at enterprise level.
- Experience with Open Source tools/frameworks.
- Experience with cloud technologies (AWS, Azure, GCP).
- Understanding of SOA/Open API methodologies and service architectures.
- Experience with web servers, application containers, caching technologies.
- Solid knowledge of relational database design/development (SQL, stored procedures, data modeling).
- Experience with messaging systems (MQ, JMS).
- Experience with build tools (Git, Maven, Jenkins).
- Experience in SAP S/4HANA implementations/extensions, SAP Fiori, CDS views, SAPUI5.
- Proficiency in SAP BTP services for integration, workflow, API management, cloud-native app deployment.
- Ability to architect/implement scalable, resilient solutions bridging on-premise SAP and cloud services.
