What are the responsibilities and job description for the Application Rationalisation Architect position at Mindlance?
Role: Architect Standard III
Location: Washington, DC 20433
Duration: 6 Months – Long Term
Hybrid Onsite: 4 days per week from Day 1, with a full transition to 100% onsite anticipated soon
Scope of Work
1. Program Delivery
• Lead end-to-end application rationalization to reduce portfolio complexity, optimize cost/value, and enforce architectural standards
• Assess existing applications and infrastructure for efficiency and improvement opportunities
• Drive portfolio optimization and architectural consistency
2. Application & Portfolio Rationalization
• Application portfolio analysis and segmentation (e.g., keep / retire / replace / re-platform)
• Redundancy detection and consolidation strategies
• Cost-value-risk analysis of applications
3. Behavioral / Leadership Competencies

◦ Drive organizational change (application retirement is highly sensitive)

Experience & Certifications
• 8–12 years’ experience in Enterprise Architecture / Solution Architecture
• Proven experience in portfolio rationalization / transformation programs
• Experience designing and executing enterprise-scale application rationalization frameworks, including classification models, decision criteria, and governance mechanisms across large, heterogeneous portfolios.
• TOGAF (mandatory or strongly preferred)
• SAFe for Architects (for scaled delivery environments)
• BPM (for rationalization rigor)
