Full Job Description

Mindful Healing Behavioral Health Care LLC is seeking a passionate, skilled, and recovery-oriented Substance Use Disorder Professional (SUDP) to join our growing behavioral health team. We provide integrated, person-centered services to individuals experiencing substance use disorders, mental health challenges, co-occurring conditions, housing instability, involvement with the criminal justice system, and other complex life circumstances.

Position Summary

The SUDP provides comprehensive substance use disorder assessment, diagnosis, treatment planning, counseling, and recovery support services for adults with substance use disorders and co-occurring mental health conditions. This position works collaboratively within a multidisciplinary treatment team to deliver high-quality, individualized care that promotes recovery, stability, wellness, and community reintegration.

The SUDP will facilitate individual counseling, group therapy, case coordination, relapse prevention planning, and recovery-focused interventions while maintaining compliance with Washington State Department of Health regulations, agency policies, and payer requirements.

Essential Duties and ResponsibilitiesClinical Assessment & Treatment Planning

  • Conduct comprehensive Substance Use Disorder assessments and evaluations
  • Determine ASAM level of care recommendations
  • Complete biopsychosocial assessments and diagnostic evaluations
  • Develop individualized treatment plans based on client strengths, needs, goals, and preferences
  • Review and update treatment plans in accordance with clinical and regulatory requirements
  • Conduct ongoing assessment of treatment progress and recovery needs

Individual Counseling

  • Provide evidence-based individual counseling services
  • Utilize Motivational Interviewing (MI), Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), relapse prevention strategies, and other evidence-based interventions
  • Support clients in developing healthy coping skills, emotional regulation, and recovery management strategies
  • Address barriers to treatment engagement and retention
  • Assist clients in achieving recovery, housing, employment, educational, and wellness goals

Group Counseling

  • Facilitate psychoeducational and process groups for individuals in outpatient and intensive outpatient programs
  • Lead groups focused on:
  • Recovery skills
  • Relapse prevention
  • Emotional regulation
  • Life skills development
  • Healthy relationships
  • Cognitive restructuring
  • Coping strategies
  • Substance use education
  • Criminal thinking and behavioral change
  • Community reintegration and recovery support

Co-Occurring Disorders Treatment

  • Work effectively with clients experiencing both substance use and mental health disorders
  • Coordinate care with therapists, psychiatric providers, case managers, peer counselors, and community partners
  • Recognize and respond appropriately to psychiatric symptoms impacting treatment participation
  • Support integrated treatment planning for co-occurring disorders

Trauma-Informed Care

  • Deliver services using trauma-informed and person-centered approaches
  • Recognize the impact of trauma, adverse childhood experiences, and systemic barriers on recovery
  • Create a safe, supportive, and nonjudgmental treatment environment
  • Utilize strengths-based interventions that promote resilience and empowerment

Case Coordination & Community Collaboration

  • Coordinate services with community providers, probation officers, courts, hospitals, housing agencies, managed care organizations, and social service programs
  • Assist clients in accessing community resources including:
  • Housing
  • Employment services
  • Educational opportunities
  • Medical care
  • Mental health services
  • Recovery support programs
  • Participate in multidisciplinary staffing and case consultation meetings

Crisis Intervention

  • Assess risk and respond appropriately to crisis situations
  • Implement safety planning and stabilization interventions
  • Coordinate emergency services when clinically indicated
  • Maintain awareness of suicide risk assessment and intervention procedures

Documentation & Compliance

  • Maintain accurate, timely, and professional clinical documentation
  • Complete progress notes, assessments, treatment plans, discharge summaries, and other required documentation within established timelines
  • Ensure compliance with:
  • HIPAA
  • 42 CFR Part 2
  • Washington State Department of Health regulations
  • Medicaid and managed care requirements
  • Agency policies and procedures
  • Maintain documentation standards that support quality care and billing compliance

Professional Development

  • Participate in supervision, training, and ongoing professional development
  • Maintain required continuing education and credentialing requirements
  • Contribute to quality improvement initiatives and program development
  • Stay current with evidence-based practices in addiction treatment and behavioral health

The SUDP will work with individuals experiencing:

  • Substance use disorders
  • Co-occurring mental health disorders
  • Depression, anxiety, PTSD, and trauma-related conditions
  • Housing instability and homelessness
  • Criminal justice involvement and reentry challenges
  • Unemployment and vocational barriers
  • Family and relationship challenges
  • Chronic relapse patterns
  • Complex psychosocial and behavioral health needs

Required Qualifications

  • Active Washington State Substance Use Disorder Professional (SUDP) credential
  • Minimum one (1) year of experience in substance use disorder treatment preferred
  • Knowledge of ASAM Criteria and placement recommendations
  • Experience providing both individual and group counseling
  • Strong understanding of co-occurring disorders treatment
  • Experience utilizing Motivational Interviewing and evidence-based treatment approaches
  • Strong clinical assessment, treatment planning, and documentation skills
  • Ability to work independently while functioning effectively within a multidisciplinary team
  • Strong interpersonal, communication, and organizational skills
  • Proficiency with Electronic Health Records (EHR) systems

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience working with justice-involved populations
  • Experience serving individuals experiencing homelessness or housing instability
  • Experience in outpatient and intensive outpatient treatment settings
  • Knowledge of Medicaid and managed care documentation requirements
  • Experience working within integrated behavioral health settings
  • Bilingual or multilingual candidates encouraged to apply
