Mindel Scott, a multidisciplinary civil engineering, planning, and design firm in Louisville, KY with over 30 years of experience, is seeking a licensed Landscape Architect to lead our Planning and Landscape Architecture department. This role offers the opportunity to shape and grow a key practice area while working collaboratively with surveying and engineering teams on a wide range of private development and municipal projects.

Key Job Duties & Responsibilities
- Lead and manage the Planning and Landscape Architecture department, including staff supervision, mentoring, performance evaluations, workload planning, recruiting, and professional development
- Direct and oversee projects through all phases of delivery, from concept development and entitlement through agency reviews, bidding, construction administration, and construction observation
- Provide technical leadership and quality control, with the ability to actively participate in design and documentation for complex projects as needed
- Manage project and department-level schedules, staffing plans, budgets, and financial performance
- Coordinate closely with in-house surveying, civil engineering, and utility design teams to deliver integrated project solutions
- Lead multidisciplinary teams and coordinate with external consultants, regulatory agencies, municipalities, and utility providers
- Lead neighborhood and stakeholder meetings, and present at committee meetings
- Serve as a primary client liaison, maintaining and expanding client relationships and guiding projects through approvals and implementation
- Lead business development efforts, including client outreach, proposal preparation, scope and fee development, and client presentations
- Collaborate with firm leadership on strategic planning, department growth, staffing needs, and long-term practice development
- Establish and maintain department standards, workflows, and quality control procedures
Knowledge, Skills, and Experience
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Landscape Architecture or a related field from an accredited university program
- 8 years of progressive professional experience in landscape architecture and site planning, including leadership or project management responsibilities
- Landscape Architect registration in the State of Kentucky or ability to obtain licensure within six (6) months. AICP Certification is a plus.
- Demonstrated experience managing projects through the full development process, from concept and entitlement through construction
- Strong understanding of site planning and landscape architectural design, including grading, drainage concepts, erosion control, and water quality design
- Proven ability to lead and coordinate multidisciplinary teams
- Experience producing and overseeing complex construction and documentation sets
- Proficiency in AutoCAD Civil 3D coordination, Microsoft Office, and Adobe Acrobat/Bluebeam
- Strong leadership, organizational, communication, and presentation skills
- Valid driver’s license

Pay: $105,000.00 - $130,000.00 per year
