What are the responsibilities and job description for the ACT/SAT Test Prep Instructor position at Mind Over Math?
Mind Over Math provides in-person and online tutoring to all age groups, elementary through college. In addition to helping students to improve their grades, we emphasize study habits and accountability so that students can become confident and independent learners.
Job Responsibilities:
- Work one-on-one and in small groups with high school students based on your test prep area(s) of expertise. As a test prep tutor, you will deliver engaging and personalized tutoring sessions in-person and via video conferencing, helping students to achieve their target scores and improve their college admission prospects.
- Assess and evaluate student progress, adapting instruction as needed.
- Provide reports for all tutoring sessions in a timely manner. Communicate promptly with students, parents, director and office staff.
- Stay up to date with the latest ACT & SAT formats, content updates, and test strategies to ensure students receive current and effective instruction.
Requirements:
- Tutors must have excellent communication skills, both oral and written. A genuine interest in helping students of varying abilities and backgrounds to succeed, with a patient and encouraging teaching approach.
- Ability to specialize in one or more of the following test prep areas: English, reading, mathematics or science.
- A teaching license is not required, but position does require at least 36 semester hours from an accredited university or college. Training will be provided.
- Flexible availability to accommodate students. Able to work SOME of the following: Monday through Thursday from 12-9pm, Sunday 1-6pm.
Both part time and full time positions are available. Tutors may choose to work from 10-35 hours per week. Pay scale is dependent on years of experience, level of education and a teaching demo.

- Advanced Math (Algebra 2, precalculus, calculus, etc)
- Chemistry
- Physics
