The Mind-Eye Institute is an optometry practice with an emphasis on neuro-optometric rehabilitation that provides world-class care by measuring the eye as well as how the brain processes its visual inputs. Each person’s unique reactions and responses to lens changes are measured with state-of-the-art therapeutic lenses. Through groundbreaking research and innovative treatments, Dr. Zelinsky and her team have been creating life-changing experiences for nearly 30 years.

Duties include assisting patients in frame and lens selection, educating patients on new technology in optics, adjusting and dispensing eyewear, 2 years of experience reading/neutralizing prescriptions using a manual lensometer ordering lenses from labs, and final inspection of eyewear. We are looking to fill a full-time position as soon as possible.
Essential Functions
- Assisting patients in frame selection, ensuring a proper fit for the patient's measurements and prescription requirements
- Interpreting prescription
- Ability to educate the patient on the latest lens designs, materials, and coatings to suit the patient's needs
- Calculating costs
- Ordering frames and lenses from the lab
- Perform final inspection of spectacles using a manual lensometer
- Dispensing eyewear, contacts, and other optical goods
- Adjusting glasses
- Troubleshoot any problems that a patient may have with their eyewear
- General repair to eyewear, including nose pads, screws, drill mount bushings, and temple cover replacements
- Instruct patients on how to insert, remove and care for contact lenses
- Assisting patients with contact lens orders and rebates
- Maintain an orderly and clean work station
- Comfortable using computers and able to adapt to new software easily
Qualifications and Requirements:
The ideal candidate for this position would have 2 years of experience as an optician and must be very detail-oriented and a great multitasker. The candidate should have a working knowledge of optics and the visual system and excel in math and customer service. Many of our patients are brain-injured or learning disabled, so empathy and understanding towards others are very important as well. This is a non-commissioned sales position and compensation is based on experience.
