What are the responsibilities and job description for the Licensed Educational Psychologist position at Mind by Design Inc?
Licensed Educational Psychologist (LEP)
Mind by Design | Campbell & Morgan Hill, CA (Bay Area)
Full-time preferred • W-2 Employment • Office & Field-Based • Flexible Schedule
Position OverviewThis is a rare opportunity for a seasoned school psychologist who is ready for something more. Mind by Design is a multidisciplinary psychological assessment and therapy group practice with offices in Campbell and Morgan Hill, CA. We conduct comprehensive psychoeducational evaluations and IEEs for children, adolescents, and young adults, and we are looking for an LEP who wants to grow with us long-term.
You do not need years of private practice experience. What matters is that you have strong assessment and consultation skills, confidence in your clinical judgment, and a genuine readiness to learn alongside a team of experienced LEPs and psychologists. Whether you are newly licensed or have not yet used your LEP license in a private practice setting, this is a supported and inspired place to make that transition.
This is for the LEP who is ready to hand off the business side to strong leadership and come in every day focused on doing meaningful clinical work. It is not for someone building or maintaining a parallel private practice.
- A peer group of experienced LEPs to collaborate and consult with
- A richly supported onboarding period, transitioning to independent practice with consultation available as needed
- A multidisciplinary team including licensed psychologists, therapists, speech pathologists, BCBAs, and educational specialists
- Strong leadership that handles the business side so you can focus entirely on the clinical work
- A flexible schedule with real autonomy over your workflow — not tied to a school bell
- Room to grow your skills and your career within a practice that is building something exceptional
- Conduct comprehensive psychoeducational evaluations and IEEs, owning the full process from intake through written report
- Personally administer, score, and interpret all testing and produce clear, well-supported reports with actionable recommendations
- Provide feedback sessions to families and collaborate with outside providers and school teams
- Participate in IEP meetings, school observations, due process cases, and litigation as needed
We are open to the full range of skills you bring and want to continue developing in service of our community. Depending on your interests, this may include:
- Individual counseling for children, adolescents, or young adults
- Parent consultation and coaching
- Trainings and professional development for school teams, families, or community partners
- Work primarily from our Campbell and Morgan Hill offices, with travel for school visits and IEP meetings throughout the Bay Area
- Full-time is strongly preferred; part-time considered for candidates not concurrently running a private practice
- If splitting time with a school district, must be available with Mind by Design at least part-time during school hours
- Flexible schedule with real autonomy over your workflow — this is not an 8-to-5 environment
- Active LEP license issued by the California Board of Behavioral Sciences (required)
- Minimum 5 years of experience as a school psychologist
- Strong assessment, report-writing, and case conceptualization skills across a range of presentations
- Confidence in clinical consultation, regardless of years in private practice
- Reliable transportation and willingness to travel throughout the Bay Area
- You have fewer than 5 years of experience as a school psychologist
- You are building or maintaining your own independent private practice
- You are not available during school hours for observations and IEP participation
- You prefer to work independently rather than as part of a collaborative team
- Strong work ethic and genuine love for the assessment process
- Self-managing and autonomous, with the self-awareness to ask for help when it matters
- Clear, warm communicator with families, schools, and colleagues
- Organized and dependable with documentation, timelines, and follow-through
- Looking to grow long-term within a practice you can be proud of
- Aligned with Mind by Design’s values of integrity, excellence, and client-centered care
- W-2 employment
- Full-time salaried starting at $135,000–$165,000 depending on experience; starting rate reflects the onboarding period and is subject to increase as you become established
- Hourly rate of $85–$125/hr for part-time or hourly full-time arrangements
- Unlimited PTO for full-time salaried employees; flexible time off for hourly full-time
- Kaiser healthcare for full-time employees
- 401(k) upon eligibility
- Relocation assistance available for the right candidate
Mind by Design is not just another group practice. We are building something intentional: a team of excellent clinicians who are well-supported, well-resourced, and deeply committed to the families they serve. Our culture values collaboration, clinical rigor, and continuous learning.
For the right LEP, this role offers something genuinely hard to find: the independence and clinical depth of private practice, with a real team around you. You get to focus on the work you trained for, supported by leadership that takes care of everything else. We hope you will consider being part of what we are building.
