What are the responsibilities and job description for the Full-Time Retail Associate position at Mincer's UVA Imprinted Sportswear?
The Job
Quality customer service is our top priority. Most of your responsibilities can be described as either customer service or inventory maintenance, but you will also be continually training on at least one new skill to engage with our processes and round out your capabilities. Your time will be split about evenly between on-the-sales-floor customer service and back-room work with our inventory.
On a given day on the floor, you could run a cash register, assist customers in finding products that they’re looking for, and report to the management team when stock for specific items is low. In the warehouse, you may help bring products from upstairs, catalogue new inventory, or help carry freight deliveries up to the warehouse. You will also help clean specific areas of the store as needed. These are some of the tasks you can expect to be given, though not a comprehensive list.
We look to develop associates based on their strengths, trusting you with tasks we know you will do well while also encouraging training on tasks you have not yet mastered. Over time, your role will grow as you do so that your time in the store will have the most impact. This role starts at $19.00/hour.
The Applicant
We are looking for an energized applicant who is interested in learning our operation and growing within it. Being punctual and consistent will lay the foundation for your success with us. The ideal applicant will also be driven to improve and good at receiving feedback. They should also be comfortable with frequent changes of pace depending on what the day demands. For example, you could transition between floor work and back-room work multiple times in a day. This could also happen suddenly, due to foot traffic, a freight delivery, or other priority adjustments. The applicant should also be curious and not afraid to ask questions. Our most successful employees are the ones who engage with our systems and want to understand them.
The Schedule
The standard full-time schedule is five eight-hour shifts per week. Each shift has a 45" break; so an average week is 36.25 hours. More hours are available for those interested. You must average at least 30 hours to be considered full-time and qualify for benefits. The most common week for a full-time associate includes shifts on Friday/Saturday/Sunday and then two on and two off for Monday-Thursday. Our most frequent store hours are 10-8. Applicants can expect to be scheduled until 8 at least twice per week. Shifts are announced two weeks at a time, one week before the two weeks begin. We are paid every other Friday. For example, if the first of the month is a Friday, the schedule for the 8th - 21st will come out on the first. The schedule for the 22nd into the next month will come out on the 15th. Pay days in this month would be the 1st, the 15th, and the 29th.

You must be able to deliver yourself to work. Parking is not provided.
On-boarding

This is a 30"-or-less meeting to get all of the relevant paperwork. The orientation is not paid. All training is paid and begins at our Corner location once you are clocked in for your first day.
