Position Summary

Strategic, hands-on Director of Human Resources Operations to design and deliver innovative, scalable programs across compensation, benefits, payroll, HRIS, and people analytics. This leader will be pivotal in shaping our HR Operations function, ensuring our Total Rewards programs support employee well-being, enable high performance, and position us competitively in a rapidly evolving landscape. Works cross-functionally with Finance, Legal, and People leadership to architect compliant, high-impact systems and processes that reflect our values. As the leader of our growing Operations function—you will define the roadmap for compensation, benefits, and workforce systems that power our distributed, diverse employee base.

Essential Functions and Responsibilities
Compensation Strategy
  • Evolve our compensation philosophy, job architecture, and leveling systems.
  • Lead annual compensation planning, including budgeting, market benchmarking, and compensation frameworks linked to performance and ratings.
  • Ensure ongoing compliance with pay transparency and pay equity regulations across all operating geographies.
Benefits
  • Own the long-term strategy, design, and communication of benefits offerings that balance competitiveness, cost efficiency, and employee well-being.
  • Lead vendor evaluation and management, optimize benefit plans, and oversee annual open enrollment strategy and execution.
  • Champion employee education to maximize benefit engagement and utilization.
HRIS & Systems (Dayforce)
  • Serve as the business owner of Dayforce, driving its optimization, configuration, and integration with payroll, compensation, benefits, and timekeeping.
  • Partner with Finance on reconciliations, forecasting, and system-driven reporting that enable seamless financial alignment.
  • Build and scale workflows in Dayforce that enhance employee experience, improve data accuracy, and automate complex processes (e.g., leaves of absence, compliance, manager self-service).
  • Stay current on Dayforce product roadmap and leverage system enhancements to continuously improve operations and reporting.
People Analytics & Workforce Insights
  • Leverage Dayforce and other systems to build dashboards, reporting frameworks, and compensation models that inform executive decision-making.
  • Provide actionable workforce insights to the C-suite and Board, enabling data-driven planning around headcount, performance, and costs.
Compliance & Policy Governance
  • Ensure all compensation, benefits, and HRIS practices comply with federal and state regulations.
  • Own policy governance, including employee handbooks, in partnership with Legal, ensuring clarity and adaptability to evolving regulations.
Leadership Responsibility
  • Supports a diverse and inclusive culture and workforce, ensures compliance with laws, regulations, and company policies.
  • Identifies, recruits, and retains top-notch talent.
  • Sets performance standards and encourages employee engagement through delegation, continuous feedback, goal setting and performance management.
  • Develop employees to meet both their career and organizational goals.
  • Builds strong customer relationships and delivers customer-centric solutions.
  • Maintains transparent communication, appropriately communicates organizational information through department meetings, one-on-one meetings, email, and regular interpersonal communication.
  • Comfortable working in ambiguous situations and adaptable to change.
  • Must model the highest degree of moral and ethical behavior and maintain confidential information.
  • High degree of autonomy and strong decision-making skills.
Knowledge, Skill & Ability
  • Deep understanding of HR best practices, policies, and compliance regulations.
  • Knowledge of compensation strategy, job architecture, and total rewards programs.
  • Familiarity with employment laws and regulations (local, state, and federal).
  • Proven history with HRIS platform scalability and other HR technology solutions.
  • Ability to leverage data analytics and reporting tools to inform strategic decisions.
  • Proven ability to build, mentor, and lead a high-performing HR operations team.
  • Strong project management skills to drive initiatives and process improvements.
  • Experience fostering a high-touch, employee-centered HR service culture.
  • Skills in developing and monitoring KPIs to measure the effectiveness of HR programs.
  • Competence in creating dashboards and reports to track operational performance.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to present complex information clearly.
  • Ability to develop scalable HR processes that adapt to organizational growth.
  • Understanding of business strategy and how HR operations can support organizational goals.
  • Ability to align HR practices with company objectives, fostering a results-oriented culture.
  • Skills in balancing strategic planning with day-to-day operational management.
Education & Experience
  • Bachelor’s degree in human resources or relatable field
  • Generally, requires a minimum of 10 years of progressive experience in People Operations with direct accountability for compensation, benefits, HRIS, and payroll.
  • PHR, SHRM-CP, SHRM-SCP highly preferred.
  • Experience creating scalable and innovative solutions in Life Sciences highly preferred.
  • Hands-on Dayforce expertise—deep knowledge of system configuration, reporting, and integrations strongly preferred.
  • Generally, requires a minimum of 6 years progressive people leadership responsibilities.
Special Working Conditions
Employee will be required to travel by car and airplane to work at different locations and will occasionally be required to travel overnight as well as internationally. The work environment is fast paced.
