Role Description This is a full-time, on-site Architectural Drafter role based in Santa Monica, CA. The Architectural Drafter will prepare detailed architectural drawings and construction documents from conceptual designs, sketches, and markups provided by project architects and designers. Daily tasks include producing floor plans, elevations, sections, and details; updating drawings through design iterations; and ensuring accuracy, consistency, and alignment with project standards and local building codes. The role involves coordinating with the project team, incorporating feedback, and maintaining organized drawing files and documentation. The Architectural Drafter will also assist with planning studies, basic 3D representations, and the integration of design features that enhance natural light, indoor–outdoor connections, and overall constructability.
Qualifications
- Strong proficiency in preparing Architectural Drawings and Construction Drawings, with attention to detail and constructability.
- Foundational knowledge of Architecture and Planning principles, including spatial organization, building systems, and code considerations.
- Ability to produce clear technical Drawing work (plans, elevations, sections, and details) from conceptual sketches and design guidelines.
- Experience with industry-standard CAD/BIM software (e.g., ArchCAD, Revit) and familiarity with digital file management and documentation standards.
- Certificate or degree in Architectural Drafting, Architecture, or a related field, or equivalent relevant experience.
- Strong visual communication skills, including the ability to interpret design intent and translate it into accurate technical documents.
- Effective collaboration, time management, and organizational skills, with the ability to work on-site in a studio environment and manage multiple deadlines.
- Experience in residential and/or commercial projects, and interest in sustainable design and indoor–outdoor spatial relationships, is highly beneficial.
