Responsibilities
- Support classroom teachers by assisting with child supervision, activities, and routines across different age groups, including infants, toddlers, and preschoolers.
- Ensure the safety and well-being of children by adhering to all safety protocols, including pediatric first aid and CPR procedures.
- Engage children in age-appropriate play, learning activities, and developmental exercises that promote social-emotional growth and cognitive development.
- Maintain clean and organized classroom environments, including sanitizing toys and materials regularly.
- Communicate effectively with parents regarding daily updates, behavioral observations, and any concerns about their child's progress or well-being.
- Assist with classroom management strategies to foster positive behavior and support individualized learning plans when necessary.
- Follow mandated reporting laws by promptly reporting any suspected child abuse or neglect in accordance with legal requirements.
Skills
- Strong understanding of childhood development principles and early childhood education best practices.
- Experience working with children in daycare, preschool, nannying, babysitting, or classroom settings.
- Knowledge of child supervision techniques and behavior management strategies.
- Certification in first aid and CPR (including pediatric first aid) is highly preferred.
- Ability to adapt quickly to different classroom environments and support various age groups effectively.
- Excellent communication skills for engaging with children, parents, and team members professionally.
- Familiarity with special education needs and experience working with individuals with disabilities is a plus.
- Demonstrated classroom management skills to maintain a safe and nurturing environment at all times.
