What are the responsibilities and job description for the Piano Teacher position at Milwaukie School of Music?
The Milwaukie School of Music (formerly Milwaukie School of Guitar) is a private music studio offering lessons for a wide variety of instruments. We have a substantial demand for piano lessons, so we are looking to bring on an additional instructor to keep up. The ideal candidate would be comfortable working with young children with no experience, as well as advanced students, and ideally be confident teaching both classical and Jazz.
Shifts available weekday afternoons and weekends. New teachers typically start with one or two days a week. The ideal candidate is someone with ambitions of eventually teaching 20-30 students over 3-4 days a week.
Established instructors at our studio typically teach 3-4 days a week, and have roughly 7-10 students each day. Lessons may be either 30 or 60 minutes. The majority of our students are children, but we have many adult learners as well. Most lessons take place in person, but some will be taught online as needed.
To assist our teachers during the initial building phase, we provide a minimum daily base rate regardless of the number of lessons taught. Our goal is to acquire and keep high-value teachers by being respectful of their time and talents, and offering opportunities for growth. Outside of private lessons, eventually there will be opportunities for group classes, summer camps, and other ventures as well.
