What are the responsibilities and job description for the Event Staff (Community Centers) position at Milwaukee Public Schools?
Position Summary
- Understand and abide by all policies and procedures outlined in the Part-Time Employee Manual.
- Enforce all Milwaukee Public Schools and Milwaukee Recreation policies and rules.
- A working knowledge of Community Center policies, procedures, programs, and services.
- Provide a safe environment for participants and staff. Assist with crowd control and maintaining order within the facility.
- Assist with scanning and entry control operations.
- Communicate effectively with participants/patrons and staff.
- Always be professional in the workplace.
- Assist with providing general direction and instructions to participants
- Remain alert, free of distractions and diffuse situations before they escalate.
- Other duties as assigned.
Job Requirements

- Enforce all Milwaukee Public Schools and Milwaukee Recreation policies and rules.
- A working knowledge of Community Center programs, policies, procedures, and services.
- Provide a safe environment for participants and staff.
- Assist with crowd control and maintaining order within the facility.
- Assist with scanning and entry control operations.
- Ancillary support to the building director, building staff and program instructors with all crisis intervention management of potential hostile situations.
- Communicate effectively with participants/patrons and staff.
- Always be professional in the workplace.
- Assist with providing general direction and instructions to participants
- Remain alert, free of distractions and diffuse situations before they escalate.
- Successful completion of Crisis Prevention Intervention (CPI).
- Available to complete 8 hour training course on CPI and Garrett Metal Detection System.
Preferred Experience
- Have a strong desire to work and mentor young people in the community.
- Be at least 18 years old and have a high school diploma.
- Possess effective verbal and interpersonal communication skills.

- Ability to foster positive working relationships.
- Ability to relate to and empathize with participants' issues and de-escalate conflicts.
- Excellent decision-making skills and ability to carry out verbal and written instructions.
