POSITION SUMMARY:

This position is part of the team concept which is devoted to the delivery of primary care in an ambulatory setting with an emphasis on prevention and health maintenance.  The Medical Assistant will be required to apply principles of comprehensive, community-based, patient-centered, developmentally appropriate, and culturally and linguistically appropriate care coordination. The Medical Assistant is expected to support the provider in the assessment, examination, treatment, and other management of patients in the clinical setting. Strong customer service, communication, teamwork, and multi-tasking skills are a must. Perform duties and carry out the necessary functions required in accordance with established policies and procedures. All duties performed must reflect Clinical Skill Checklist competency as determined during the orientation and probation periods and updated as recommended by the supervisor.

POSITION REQUIREMENTS:

• Education:  Certification as a Medical Assistant, Associates of Science with AAMA certification preferred. Certification in CPR is mandatory.
• Experience:  Two years or more in a clinic, physician’s office or hospital setting preferred. Nursing students who have completed at least two nursing clinical rotations will be considered for this position.
• Expertise:  Basic knowledge of Medical Terminology is mandatory. Proficiency in conversational Spanish is a plus. Must demonstrate the ability to handle and deal with multiple situations effectively. Must have empathy and compassion for all patients and staff. Demonstrate the ability to treat all patients and staff with dignity and respect. Must perform in a professional and courteous manner at all times. Must demonstrate the ability to work efficiently, effectively, and productively with Providers and staff. They have demonstrated excellence in customer service.  The ability to communicate with the provider, charge nurse, and lead nurse in a cooperative, respectful and constructive manner is essential.
• Language: Comprehend and use basic language either written or spoken to communicate information and ideals. Intermediate to advanced computer and EMR proficiency.
