If you’re passionate about turning technical information into clear, practical documentation, you’ll be a strong fit here.SUMMARYThe Technical Writer creates, updates, and maintains documentation related to product assembly, manufacturing processes, engineering changes, and system operations. This role translates engineering drawings, schematics, and customer specifications into clear, accurate, production-ready documentation using tools such as MS Office, AutoCAD, Factory Logix, Checkpoint, and Circuit CAM.The Technical Writer will work independently most of the time, but must also be able to shift priorities quickly and respond to changing production needs on short notice. This position plays a key role in ensuring accurate documentation is available to support manufacturing quality, flow, and compliance.ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIESNPI Documentation SupportReview and verify customer documentation for completeness and accuracyCreate Job Books using standard work templatesValidate and review Bills of Materials (BOMs)Process documentation updates for NPI projects in a timely and accurate mannerCoordinate with Engineering, Quality, Production, and other departments to clarify documentation requirementsMaintain and organize NPI documentation throughout the project lifecycleSupport all documentation-related tasks assigned by management Assembly Documentation Creation and MaintenanceCreate and maintain assembly Job Books, including updates from red-line changesClarify documentation processes and escalate issues when requiredMaintain documentation libraries and ensure version controlManage and update documentation through engineering change orders (ECOs)Create and distribute documentation packets to support production activitiesEnsure documentation remains accurate and current throughout the product lifecycle Additional ResponsibilitiesDevelop work instructions, test procedures, and part recordsEnter and maintain BOMs and part data within the ERP systemSupport ISO and Quality documentation initiatives as neededOrganize electronic files, master registers, and controlled documentsMeet documentation milestones and support project timelinesParticipate in continuous improvement, Lean activities, and problem-solving effortsOn-site attendance is required to support production and cross-functional teamsQUALIFICATIONSEducation and ExperienceAssociate degree in electronics, mechanics, technical writing, or related field preferred1–3 years of technical writing, documentation, and/or manufacturing experience preferredAn equivalent combination of education and experience will be considered Knowledge, Skills, and AbilitiesAbility to work independently with minimal supervisionAbility to shift priorities quickly in response to production needsStrong written, verbal, and technical communication skillsAbility to interpret engineering drawings, schematics, CAD files, and component specificationsUnderstanding of Bills of Materials (BOMs), part specifications, and ECO processesAbility to create and maintain assembly documentation, work instructions, and test proceduresProficiency with MS Office; ability to learn Factory Logix, Checkpoint, and Circuit CAM softwareStrong organizational skills; ability to maintain documentation, libraries, and electronic filesAbility to follow standardized documentation processes and meet timelinesAbility to analyze problems, collect data, draw conclusions, and interpret technical instructionsBasic mathematical skills, including addition, subtraction, multiplication, division, fractions, decimals, and percentagesAbility to collaborate effectively with Engineering, Production, and Quality teamsCertificationsFamiliarity with IPC-A-610 and ISO documentation standards preferred; training may be provided Physical DemandsThe physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.
