Assistant Accounting Treasury
Annual Hourly/Salary Range: $17.34 - $26.01 ($36,067 – $54,100)
Closing Date: May 28, 2024, or upon receipt of the first 50 application submissions
Job Summary: Under general supervision the Assistant Accountant will maintain journals, ledgers, records and reports. Retrieves information and reports using on-line banking software. Prepares accounting entries for bank transfers and posts delinquent tax payments. Prepares and records daily bank deposits for the Treasurer's Office.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Reviews bank activities for incoming payments for outstanding receivables.
Process daily check run for Accounts Payable.
Prepares bank deposits for the Treasurer’s Office.
Prepares and posts payments received for delinquent taxes.
Maintains Unclaimed Funds List and prepares paperwork when a claim is made.
Records stop payment requests, prepares and records replacement checks.
Prepares journal entries to reflect daily bank activities in the Treasurer's Office.
Prepares documents to reflect daily activity of ACH payments made to vendors.
Approves “Cash Receipt” documents on a daily basis in the Infor accounting system.
Records, stores, and retrieves files and information when necessary.
Perform other duties as needed and assigned.
Minimum Requirements:
Must be a current resident of the State of Wisconsin
High School Diploma or GED
Intermediate level working with Microsoft Excel and Word
Experience with data entry
At least one (1) year of work experience in Accounts Receivables, Bookkeeping, Cash Handling and Customer Service
Preferred Knowledge and/or Experience:
Associate Degree in Accounting.
Excellent analytical, verbal, and written communication skills.
The use of online banking software

The ability to work with high volume and variable work demands and deadlines. Including high level of internal and external communication. The ability to work effectively and harmoniously with others. Organizational, analytical and problem-solving skills. Knowledge of personal computers, office machines, computer faxing which includes data processing, word processing, tax, spreadsheet software, internet banking, accounting theories, principles, practices and procedures. Knowledge of automated accounting systems oral, written, internal and external communications.
Physical Demands: Standing, Walking, Sitting, Squatting, Climbing, Talking, Visual. The Ability to Lift/Carry, Push/Pull up to 30lbs, Manual Dexterity and Upper Extremity and Repetitive Motion
