Founded in 2000, the Milwaukee Academy of Science (MAS) is a K4-12th grade independent charter school serving over 1,300 scholars. The mission of MAS is to graduate students prepared to compete successfully at the post-secondary level. African American students comprise 99% of the student body and over 95% of students qualify for free or reduced meals. Regardless of student background and external factors, MAS maintains the expectation that with the support of our school community all students can and will learn, and will graduate high school prepared for their post-secondary educational experience.
Job Summary:
The Student Services Associate plays a vital role in supporting the success of diverse learners by providing direct instructional support, assisting with small group and individual provider interventions, and assisting with the coordination and compliance of specialized services. This role ensures that students receive high-quality, individualized support while helping the school maintain fidelity with internal systems and external requirements.
I. Position Relationships:
Reports to: Director of Student Services
Coordinates with: School Principal, Special Education Staff, Teachers, Service Providers, etc.
II. Position Responsibilities:
- Instructional Support & Interventions
- Provide small group and one-on-one academic and behavioral interventions under the guidance of teachers and service providers.
- Reinforce classroom instruction by supporting students in practicing concepts, skills, and strategies.
- Monitor and document student progress in intervention groups.
- Implement classroom and testing supports designed to increase access to learning.
- Compliance & Coordination
- Assist with scheduling, coordinating, and implementing specialized services (e.g., academic interventions, speech, counseling, or other supports).
- Maintain accurate service and intervention records in alignment with school and district expectations.
- Support staff in preparing materials and documentation needed for progress monitoring and compliance.
- Ensure student support services are delivered consistently and in alignment with required plans.
- Collaboration & School Culture
- Partner with teachers, service providers, and student support teams to ensure consistent implementation of interventions.
- Communicate effectively with staff and families regarding student needs and progress.
- Contribute to a positive, inclusive, and supportive school environment that aligns with the school’s mission and values.

- High school diploma required; Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in education or related field preferred.
- Experience working with children or youth in an educational setting strongly preferred.
- Knowledge of student services, interventions, or compliance practices is a plus.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Ability to build strong, supportive relationships with students and staff.
