What are the responsibilities and job description for the Field Service Technician position at Milvus Robotics?
About the Role
Milvus Robotics develops autonomous mobile robots and the fleet intelligence that powers them, helping automate material flow in factories and warehouses worldwide. As our deployments grow, we are looking for a hands-on Field Service Technician based in the Louisville area to support customers across the region and help ensure their robotic systems operate safely and reliably.
You will serve as a trusted technical point of contact for our customers, performing preventive maintenance, troubleshooting field issues, documenting service activities, coordinating spare parts, and following problems through to resolution. This is a practical, ownership-driven role focused on solving real technical challenges on-site, minimizing downtime, and supporting smooth customer operations.
The role is primarily based at customer locations, with occasional responsibilities at our local warehouse, including parts coordination, equipment handling, and shipment-related support.
We are looking for someone practical, dependable, and technically curious: comfortable working directly with customers, operating independently in the field, and coordinating effectively with local and international teams.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide on-site support — Deliver hands-on technical support for autonomous mobile robots and related equipment at customer sites.
- Perform maintenance and basic repairs — Conduct preventive maintenance, inspections, basic repairs, component replacements, and other service activities in accordance with company procedures.
- Troubleshoot technical issues — Diagnose robot and system issues, identify probable root causes, and coordinate with internal technical teams when escalation is required.
- Maintain system availability — Respond promptly to service requests and operational issues to minimize downtime and restore normal operation.
- Document service activities — Accurately record maintenance actions, repairs, parts usage, issue details, findings, and required follow-up.
- Coordinate spare parts — Track spare-parts usage, replacement needs, and service-related inventory requirements.
- Support local warehouse operations — Assist with the receiving, storage, organization, and tracking of service parts, tools, and equipment when needed.
- Coordinate service shipments — Support inbound and outbound shipments of spare parts, tools, service equipment, and robots, including repair, replacement, and swap units.
- Drive continuous improvement — Identify recurring issues and provide feedback to improve maintenance practices, service processes, documentation, and customer support.
What We're Looking For
- Based in the Louisville area or within a reasonable commuting distance.
- Hands-on, dependable, and confident in a customer-facing technical service role.
- Strong troubleshooting skills in mechanical, electrical, mechatronics, or related technical systems.
- Able to work independently while keeping internal teams informed of progress, issues, and next steps.
- Organized and detail-oriented, with strong documentation and follow-up skills.
- Proficient in using basic hand tools, diagnostic equipment, service checklists, and digital reporting systems.
- Able to communicate professionally with customers, internal teams, and service partners.
- Comfortable working in warehouse, industrial, and customer-site environments.
- Willing to assist with local warehouse coordination, spare-parts handling, receiving, and shipment-related tasks as needed.
- Authorized to work in the United States.
- Valid driver's license and ability to travel independently to customer sites throughout the region.
Preferred Experience
- Experience in a hands-on technical role, such as field service technician, maintenance technician, automation technician, robotics technician, or a similar position.
- Experience with autonomous mobile robots, AGVs, warehouse automation, industrial equipment, material handling systems, or conveyors.
- Familiarity with electrical systems, sensors, motors, batteries, safety devices, networking, and industrial controls.
- Experience performing preventive maintenance, troubleshooting technical issues, documenting repairs, and replacing spare parts.
- Familiarity with warehouse operations, inventory management, receiving, and shipment coordination.
- Experience working directly with customers in a technical service or support environment.

- Annual base salary of $55,000–$70,000, depending on experience and qualifications.
- Health, dental, and vision insurance.
- 401(k) plan with employer matching contributions.
