Milton Middle School is seeking a dynamic, student-centered Health Teacher (Substitute) to join our team. The ideal candidate will create an engaging environment that empowers middle school students to make healthy, informed choices. You will be responsible for planning, delivering, and assessing health and wellness curricula aligned with state standards.
Key Responsibilities
Curriculum & Instruction: Plan, deliver, and assess age-appropriate health and wellness units covering physical health, nutrition, mental health, substance use prevention, and growth & development aligned with Vermont state standards.
Classroom Management: Establish positive expectations, maintain strong classroom dynamics, and create a safe, supportive learning environment for all students.
Communication: Maintain clear, active communication with school administrators, parents/guardians, and supporting educational staff.
Professional Expectations: Participate in grade-level or faculty meetings, collaborate with the physical education and student support teams, and fulfill standard duties as assigned during the long-term assignment.
Qualifications & Requirements
Education: Bachelor’s degree in Health Education, Physical Education, Nursing (BSN), or a related field preferred.
Licensure / Credentials:
Valid Vermont Teaching License with a Health Education endorsement preferred (or eligibility for emergency/substitute licensure).
Criminal background check and fingerprinting required per district policy.
Skills: Strong classroom management, passion for adolescent wellness, and effective interpersonal skills.
