Position Title: Assistant Principal
General Description: The Assistant Principal will use leadership, supervisory, and administrative skills in such a way that will assist the principal in coordinating all aspects of the school within the framework of Board policy to maximize the academic and personal development of each student.

Duties and Responsibilities
· Foster a climate of high expectations by embodying and institutionalizing the school’s vision for school culture and the Code of Conduct.
· Assists the principal in planning, organizing, scheduling, directing, and evaluating all co-curricular and extracurricular activities
· Assists in the maintenance and effective learning environment within the school
· Assists with the school budget and school’s finances.
· Prepares or supervises the timely preparation of all assigned reports, records, lists, and other paperwork appropriate for the school’s administration
· Works with central administration on school curriculum, transportation, special services, and testing
· Enforces all Board of Trustees policies, administrative directions, and state laws/regulations.
· Keeps supervisors and school community informed of building’s events and activities
· Maintains active and positive relationships with students, staff, parents, and the community soliciting input and support from all segments
· Assists in the development, revision, and evaluation of the curriculum
· Establishes guidelines and maintains high standards for student conduct, equitably and positively enforces discipline as necessary according to the due process rights of students
· Attends and participates in meetings, special events, school sponsored activities, and functions and demands of position as required by the principal, Superintendent or designee, or demands of the position.
· Assists in planning and supervising required activities such as fire drills and school security drills as required for state compliance
· Maintains and prepares inventories of school properties and oversees the security of that property
· Establishes and maintains relationships with local community groups and individuals to develop, foster and solicit understanding and support of all school objectives and programs, to interpret Board policies and administrative directives; and to discuss and resolve individual student problems
· Supervise and evaluate designated certificated and noncertificated staff regarding their individual and group performance within the framework of the school program in accordance with Board policy, administrative directives and state regulation and law.
· Assist with the continuous improvement of the instructional program within the school and utilize a data informed approach to inform school improvement
· Assists in the recruiting, screening, hiring, training, assigning, evaluation and removal when needed of staff assigned to the school
· Conducts meetings of staff, students, and parents necessary for the proper running of the school making all groups aware of changes in policy or procedures when necessary
· Assists in the mentoring and the orientation of new staff members
· Assures the safety and welfare of all pupils and staff
· Aligns supervision with the school’s and Network’s standards, goals, and objectives
· Utilizes the continued input from the school community in improvement efforts
· Remain fair, decisive, professional, calm and supportive of whole-child development.
· Interview and work with students, parents, and staff to take necessary action in cases of truancy, delinquency, and/or discipline concerns.
· Serve as a resource to staff regarding student management issues.
· Openly and regularly communicate with staff and parents/guardians regarding student behavior and behavior management implementation.
· Develops corrective action plans and proposals to improve programs and services.
· Displays the highest ethical and professional behavior and standards when working with students, parents, school personnel, agencies, and staff
· Attends Board of Directors and administrative meetings as requested
· Responsible, for consulting the principal to determine discipline and consequences for student behavior throughout the building (i.e., detention and/or suspension)
· Hold periodic discipline meetings by grade level to review discipline, rules and regulations.
· Supervise/monitor arrival and dismissal of students, playground and lunchroom activities.
· Collaborate with teachers, students, and families to create and implement individual behavior plans.
· Be highly present and visible to students during school hours, constantly ensuring the school has an inclusive and joyful school culture.
· Performs all responsibilities in a professional, courteous, and cooperative manner while maintaining strict confidentiality of school, student, personnel, Charter Network, Board of Trustees information and records
· Performs all other duties as may be assigned by the principal, Superintendent or central office administration

Salary/Schedule: Salary is determined upon experience and qualifications. Salary range is $70,000-$90,000. This is a full-time, 12-month contract position. Hours will be Monday through Friday, 7:45 a.m.-4:00 p.m.
Education/Experience: Bachelor’s Degree in Education or Behavior Management, required
Master’s Degree, preferred.
Principal or Supervisory Certification, preferred
5-years’ experience Teaching/Administrative at the elementary level, required
1-year experience with urban students/diverse student population in an educational setting, preferred
