Role Description
The Director of Sports Medicine is responsible for the development, planning, strategic direction and overall accountability for the sports medicine department within Millsaps College’s athletic department. The Director maintains direct oversight of staff members while creating a positive and dynamic team to interface/communicate with coaches and student-athletes. This position reports to the Director of Athletics.
This is a 12-month salaried-exempt position with full benefits. Work hours may include weekdays, weekends, and evenings.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree from a CAATE accredited institution of higher education (masters preferred)
- 5-7 years of experience in Collegiate Athletics
- 2 years of experience in insurance coordination
- BOC Certification
- Mississippi Athletic Trainer License (or eligible to obtain license)
- Active CPR/First Aid Certification
- Previous Experience at a CAATE- Accredited Athletic Training Program
- Understanding of the NCAA regulations and guidelines, and experience ensuring compliance
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to work well with others from a broad range of positions, departments and cultural backgrounds
- Able to work in team environments and individually
- Detail-oriented, highly organized, creative problem-solver who takes initiative
- Ability to quickly learn new technologies and adapt to varying technological environments
- Ability to follow directions and complete tasks accurately as well as accept supervisory input and constructive criticism
