Part-Time: 20 hours per week

Salaried Position: $16,200

Primary Purpose:

● Lead children’s ministry (birth through fifth grade) in our mission to know Christ and make Christ known as we worship, grow and serve together.

● Develop, coordinate, and oversee a comprehensive program of children’s ministries that disciples students and volunteers in a growing relationship with Jesus Christ, leads participants in discovering their spiritual gifts, and fosters healthier relationships in the personal lives of participants and their families.

● Will be a strong team player, with effective communication skills, passionate about serving our families and Christ, and value a strong relationship with the pastor and entire leadership team.

Essential Duties:

● Implement Christian Education programs using Safe Sanctuary principles and guidelines. Organize and maintain an up-to-date file of all essential paperwork for participants including contact information, medical releases, permission forms, etc.

● Relationally connect with family ministry participants on a regular basis.

● Coordinate all children's ministry activities including, but not limited to Sunday School, Nursery activities, Children’s Message, curriculum research/development for programs, annual Bible School, and seasonal activities.

● Ensure programs, curriculum and resources are consistent with the teaching and doctrine of the United Methodist Church.

● Manage and develop the children’s ministries budget and make annual requests to the finance committee for budget consideration.

● Recruit, train, supervise and support volunteers to teach and lead spiritual formation activities for children.

● Coordinate and maintain a children’s ministries calendar in consultation with the Senior Pastor and Administrative Secretary.

● Regularly communicate schedules, updates and other pertinent information with participants.

● Attend weekly worship services and become involved in the life and mission of MRUMC.

● Make the Senior Pastor aware of any pastoral care needs that should arise from children’s ministry participants and/or their families.

● Implement outreach strategies that engage families in the community who are not involved with the church.

● Coordinate with the Youth Ministry Director.

● Other duties as assigned by Senior Pastor.

Education/Experience

● Degree, experience and/or coursework in Christian Education or related field (such as Early Childhood Education, Elementary Education, etc.)

● Demonstrate a clear understanding of children’s development and skill level.

Knowledge/Skills Base

● Proficient in office technologies and social media accounts that promote children’s ministry.

● First Aid/CPR Certification preferred but not required.

● Basic understanding of structure, theology and worship of the United Methodist Church.

Other Requirements

● Participation in staff planning retreats

● Quarterly & Annual review with the Senior Pastor

● Communicate with assigned liaison from the Staff Parish Relations Committee.

Pay: $16,200.00 per year
