The Scenic Lead manages MJx live events scenic operation through technical design, estimating, and team leadership. The Scenic Lead provides oversight and direction to the scenic team to facilitate all scenic projects, ensuring client expectations are met while maintaining budgets and timelines.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree from a fouryear college or university; and ten years’ related
- Ten years of successful carpentry and construction planning and execution
Woodworking, Metalworking, Painting, Finish carpentry
- Ability to use CAD programs to create construction drawings and associated diagrams (e.g., AutoCAD, Vectorworks)
- Working knowledge of designing and programming both 3axis and 5axis CNC machines
- Experience operating 3D printers and designing custom STL files
- Exceptional attention to detail, strong troubleshooting skills, and selfmotivation
- Maintains a professional appearance and attitude
- Valid driver’s license; ability to drive cargo vans and small box trucks
- Availability to work early mornings, evenings, and weekends

- Lead the scenic team through inperson direction, verbal and written communication, detailed plans and drawings, leading by example
- Facilitate the construction and ontime delivery of scenic elements for internal projects, live events, studio broadcasts
- Contribute to construction processes by providing detailed technical drawings,
- Manage acquisition of construction and stock materials to meet build timelines
- Handle multiple projects efficiently with high accuracy and attention to detail, within timelines and budgets
- Travel to sites when needed to lead installation and strike of scenic items
- Work independently or collaboratively on construction projects, including scenic
- Follow and contribute to all safety procedures to protect team members, crews, clients, and audiences
- Perform pickup and delivery of scenic elements, materials, and tools
