What are the responsibilities and job description for the Controller position at Millman Search?
Our client is a Maryland based, full-service commercial real estate company. For decades, they have built, leased and maintained their office, retail and commercial properties portfolio in the Mid-Atlantic region. They currently have a need for a Controller to serve as a senior executive responsible for managing the company's finances, including financial planning, risk management, and reporting. Overseeing budgets and forecasts, while focus is on the commercial real estate industry compliance, operations and reporting. The ideal candidate will be responsible for financial strategy, planning and analysis, financial reports, company audits, compliance, and bank relationships. This role will collaborate with the CEO and the executive team to make decisions regarding company's financial strategy and operations. Must have experience with Tax Partnerships, Commercial Real Estate Financing, Year-End Tax Preparation, Working with Brokers to Bind Property, Liability and Health Insurance and be a CPA.
Qualifications (must haves)
- 10 years' experience dealing with commercial real estate finance compliance, operations and reporting
- CPA required
- Strong finance-based analytical skills
- Solid experience dealing with tax partnerships and real estate financing
- Knowledge of basic HR, Payroll and Benefits, including administration of a 401k plan
- Experience working with brokers to bind property, liability, and health insurance
- Able to handle accounting for new building construction, allocation of construction costs and tenant improvements
