What are the responsibilities and job description for the Middle School Principal position at Millis Middle School?
QUALIFICATIONS:
Leadership & Experience: Demonstrated highly effective leadership in an administrative position such as middle school principal/assistant principal or position of comparable leadership and scope. Minimum of 6 years of teaching and/or administrative experience, with a preference for middle school level experience.
Character & Vision: Strong character, impeccable integrity, and firmly held ethical beliefs. Passionate student advocate able to articulate a clear vision of educational goals.
Education & Certification: Minimum of a Master’s degree or higher in Educational Leadership or a related field. Valid state certification/licensure as a school principal.
Instructional Leadership: Demonstrated leadership in curriculum development and instructional improvement aligned with district and state standards. Knowledgeable about blended, personalized, standards-based, and project-based learning.
Communication: Highly effective interpersonal skills, including excellent writing, speaking, and listening skills. Ability to build strong relationships and work cooperatively with students, families, staff, and the community.
Staff Development: Experience supervising, evaluating, and developing faculty and staff to ensure professional growth.
Regulatory Knowledge: Thorough understanding of effective teaching practices, educational law, MA curriculum standards, IDEA regulations, school finance, and DOE mandates.
Inclusion & Equity: Understanding of special education and supportive of inclusive practices. Deep commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion. Experience with MTSS, tiered intervention, progress monitoring and assessment for learning.
Operations & Technology: Demonstrated proficiency in administrative and instructional applications of technology. Ability to effectively manage the school budget, resources, and daily operations. Support current MSBA building project as it moves into the construction phase.
Data & Innovation: Proven ability to use data to drive decision-making and improve student outcomes. Experience with restorative practices and social-emotional learning
