Millis Development & Construction has been a family-owned and- operated company headquartered in the Houston area since 1980. As a general contractor, MDC provides construction services for recreational and commercial projects that have a special focus on landscape architecture.
Commercial Construction Superintendent Overview:
The Superintendent is assigned the responsibility and authority for daily coordination and direction of all project activities, so that the work is done safely, on schedule, within budget, and in compliance with the company’s quality standards and contract documents. To accomplish this, he or she must have a plan and vision on how to construct the project and to ensure that all daily and weekly construction activities are aligned and set up accordingly.
Superintendent Roles and Responsibilities (including, but not limited to):
- Work closely with the Project Manager and other internal contacts to ensure timely and accurate completion of projects
- Maintain safety standards.
- Develop a functional, efficient job building plan - determine the construction techniques, means of access, logistics, and key building methods to be used to construct the project.
- Create, maintain and update the Site Utilization Plan.
- Assist with the preparation of the CPM baseline schedule and provide updates in a manner that reflects accurate progress and projected completion.
- Coordinate with the Project Manager any and all CPM fragments with changes and delays.
- Oversee and supervise on-site Assistant Superintendents, Project Engineers, Surveyors, Foremen and craft persons.
- Recruit, hire, and manage strong candidates to join the Millis Development & Construction operations team, including craftsmen, supervisors, and laborers.
- Identify and mentor subordinates with the potential to become increasingly valuable assets to the Millis Development & Construction team. Orient, cultivate and train his/her personnel to instill good work values, expand experience, and enable future growth for all that aspire it.
- Review equipment and tool requirements with the PM so that everything budgeted accordingly.
- Coordinate, schedule and manage all subcontractors, suppliers, delivery companies, vendors and inspection authorities and jurisdictions.
- Conduct Coordination Meetings with all onsite subcontractors.
- Proactively and continuously coordinate vendors, subcontractors, suppliers and inspectors on a daily and weekly basis.
- Identify and resolve construction problems as they develop.
- Notify the PM’s when safety, performance, manpower, or quality issues begin, or just look to begin to arise.
- Be proactive and realistic at assessing varying job conditions.
- Communicate effectively with all project participants.
- Keep the project on schedule and look to draw from past experience on dealing with unforeseen situations.
- Maintain accurate records, that include as-built drawings, an updated schedule, and continuously recorded Daily Reports and Weekly Safety reports.
- Plan, staff, and manage self-performance activities.
- Keep the job site clean and well-maintained daily. Enforce clean-up protocols for Subcontractors and vendors.
- Schedule and procure all required punch list at the closing stages/phases of the project.

Salary : $80,000 - $110,000
