Your Role:
The R&D Manager in Temecula, CA will manage a team of several Scientists and Associates to develop recombinant antibodies and sandwich immunoassay antibody pairs for our Life Science Research Solutions business. This position will report to the Head of R&D, Advanced Reagents. Your responsibilities as R&D Manager will include:
- Responsible and accountable for the team productivity and lab operational safety and efficiency
- Responsible and accountable for the successful execution of the recombinant antibody and antibody pair development projects to achieve annual operating plan
- Plan and schedule lab activities for the team
- Analyze scientific data, provide technical insights and troubleshooting guidance to the team members
- Provide training and coaching to junior team members and contractors
- Foster a collaborative, inclusive, safe, and efficient team environment
- Manage the performance and professional development of the R&D team
- Improve process and workflow for the team
- Follow the direction of the senior manager, collaborate with peer supervisors / managers for project coordination
- Collaborate with Product Management, Sales, Service, Customer Support, Operations, and Quality stakeholders to ensure quality products are developed and launched into the market successfully
Who You Are:
Minimum Qualifications:
- Bachelor's Degree in Biology, Molecular Biology, or other life science discipline
- 10 years of work experience in new product development in the life science industry
OR
- Master's Degree in Biology, Molecular Biology, or other life science discipline
- 8 years of work experience in new product development in the life science industry
OR
- PhD in Biology, Molecular Biology, or other life science discipline
- 5 years of work experience in new product development in the life science industry
- 2 years of experience managing teams and leading technical projects
Preferred Qualifications:
- Antibody and / or immunoassay development experience
- Recombinant antibody development or flow cytometry experience
- Experience in team management, employee performance, and development management
- Willingness to travel based on project and business needs
- Proven track record of developing and launching innovative new products to market successfully
- Experience with new product development process and process development
- Effective project management, planning, and organizational skills
- Strong written and verbal communication skills; effective in scientific presentations
- Experience in coaching and training junior scientists and providing technical guidance
