Milliman's New York - Atlanta Health Practice partners with payer and provider organizations on complex actuarial and strategic challenges, with a focus on value-based care, commercial, Medicare, and Medicaid risk arrangements (including MSSP and other shared savings models), and payer-provider contracting. We support health insurance companies, health systems, physician groups, and ACOs in evaluating and managing financial risk, optimizing contract performance, and building sustainable population health strategies. Our work integrates deep actuarial expertise with practical insights on operations, care delivery, and data analytics.
We seek energetic and imaginative professionals to join our client-oriented team at our New York, NY or Atlanta, GA locations, but fully remote candidates will also be considered. The anticipated closing date for this posting is July 3, 2026. Successful candidates will have the ability to lead work with innovative clients seeking answers to complex business challenges.
The Senior Healthcare Consultant will work with Milliman consultants across the firm on the following tasks:
- Manage and develop clients among healthcare provider organizations, insurers, life sciences companies, patient advocacy groups, and other stakeholders in the healthcare industry
- Design and execute claims-based data analyses to demonstrate Milliman's capabilities and expertise in the healthcare arena
- Draft research articles or white papers highlighting claims-based insights related to emerging healthcare activity
- Apply your experiences to a wide array of healthcare system topics including healthcare reform
- Assist junior colleagues with the development of their analytical and consulting skills
- Manage project teams, including work assignments, production of deliverables, and quality review
Qualifications
- Credentialed actuary (e.g., FSA, ASA)
- At least 20 years of experience in healthcare consulting (analytic or strategic) or senior management experience with a health insurance company or a healthcare provider-related organization
- Demonstrated experience designing and leading the full life cycle of a healthcare claims-based analytic project, from conceptualization to design to execution to results presentation
- A deep understanding of medical coding systems (CPT, ICD, DRG, etc.)
- Detail oriented, capable of carrying out a given task with all the details necessary to get the task done well
- Effective teamwork and exceptional written/verbal communication skills
- Exceptional problem solving and analytical skills
- Ability to work both independently and as part of a team
Compensation
The overall salary range for this role is $165,100 - $313,145. For candidates residing in:
- Alaska, California, Connecticut, Illinois, Maryland, Massachusetts, New Jersey, New York City, Newark, San Jose, San Francisco, Pennsylvania, Virginia, Washington, or the District of Columbia the range is $189,865 - $313,145
- All other locations the range is $165,100 - 272,300
A combination of factors will be considered, including, but not limited to, education, relevant work experience, qualifications, skills, certifications, etc.
