Responsibilities
The Doffer‑Recycler is responsible for supporting manufacturing operations by safely removing full material packages (“doffing”), recycling and handling waste or reusable materials, and maintaining clean, organized work areas. This role plays a critical part in sustaining continuous production flow, meeting quality standards, and supporting Milliken’s commitment to safety, efficiency, and environmental responsibility.
- Safely doff full material packages from assigned production equipment according to standard operating procedures
- Transport full packages to designated areas using proper material‑handling techniques or equipment
- Collect, sort, and recycle reusable materials, waste fiber, or scrap according to plant recycling protocols
- Monitor work areas for housekeeping and safety concerns; maintain clean and orderly production spaces
- Assist operators by ensuring uninterrupted material flow and timely removal of finished product
- Inspect packages for damage, labeling accuracy, and basic quality issues; report concerns to supervision
- Follow all Milliken safety policies, lockout/tagout procedures, and PPE requirements
- Accurately complete required production, recycling, or quality documentation
- Work effectively as a team member in a fast‑paced manufacturing environment
- Support continuous improvement, sustainability initiatives, and special projects as assigned
- Perform other duties as required to support plant operations
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Manufacturing or textile experience preferred but not required.
- Ability to read production instructions, quality specifications, and safety documents.
- Must be able to work a rotating 12-hour shift.

- Standing or walking for 12 hours or more per shift.
- Ability to remain in a stationary position (standing or seated) during equipment operation.
- Ability to move/traverse the production floor, including accessing creel areas, equipment, and materials.
- Ability to lift and carry production materials (spools, bobbins, resin containers, waste packages), typically up to 50 lbs.
- Stooping, bending, reaching overhead, and occasional ladder/platform climbing.
- Ability to operate machine controls, touchscreens, tools, and adjustments requiring fine motor skills.
- Ability to sustain repetitive motions during extended production runs.
- Ability to visually inspect products, monitor displays, and identify non‑conforming conditions.
- Ability to tolerate heat, temperature variations, and abnormal environmental conditions typical of manufacturing.
- Work is performed primarily on the production floor, near moving machinery and ongoing process lines.
- Noise levels vary; hearing protection may be required.
- Exposure to fibers, lint, dust, and particulates typical of textile operations.
- Exposure to heat from extrusion zones and fluctuating seasonal temperatures.
- Work may involve tight/confined areas, ladder use, and navigating around machinery.
- Required use of PPE: safety glasses, safety shoes, gloves, hearing protection, and other items per task area.
